Who is your favorite saint and why?

St. Francis Xaviour, who preached Christianity in India also in my District. He done lots of miracles in India. I have seen his body which is in Goa, India.

Anyone want to jump in and mention a saint who didn’t murder anyone?
 
Pope Benedict on Sainthood:

Pope Benedict said at Lourdes earlier this month that the only thing separating a saint from a sinner is that a saint looks less at himself and more at Christ and His love:

*“The saints have allowed themselves to be embraced by His love…They were sinners and they knew it, but willingly ceased to gaze upon their own wounds and to gaze only upon the wounds of thier Lord…” *

Gosh this is hard…You know, when I think of saints, I never put the Blessed Mother into that category…I know she is, but I think she is a cut above a regular saint…so I won’t pick her

I like Bernadette and Solanus Casey a great deal, but also St Francis and the Little Flower…I don’t know if I could pick one
 
Our Lady under the title of Our Lady Star of the Sea has been calling me and taking care of me for years, and I love her so much for that.

I also hope and pray Bishop Fulton Sheen is canonized in my lifetime. What an amazing teacher.

Murder is a sin. That was not murder.

Remember that attacking evil is more charitable than just promoting charity.

And it is a happy thought. If it does not bring you joy the radicality of the saints than you only like the sugar on top.
Saints are radical!!!

St Teresa of Avila for me! She is just absolutely awesome. I read about her, read her books, pray to her, talk to her.
St Teresa–so very holy, and yet so totally approachable. She always makes me feel like she was/is someone I could just sit down with, over a cup of tea, and talk. Really talk, about anything…and laugh, too! What a sense of humor she had…

St. Teresa was a rare person - a mystic who lived in the presence of God and yet a down to earth, practical and very sensible woman too. Here’s the bookmark found in her prayerbook after her death:

Let nothing disturb you; Let nothing frighten you. All things are passing. God never changes. Patience obtains all things. Nothing is wanting to him who possesses God. God alone suffices.
 
I’ve got a thing for St Joseph - quiet, happy to stay in the background, humble enough to change his mind and take Mary and Jesus under his wing at God’s request, strong and calm enough to look after Mary on the way to Bethlehem (must’ve been some doing looking after a woman at the end of her pregnancy on a rough journey like that!) and then to take her and Jesus to Egypt. Loved Jesus as his own - obviously, he sorrowed like Mary did when they lost Him.
