I like St. Francis of Assisi because of his love of animals. I love animals too, so I understand why he was so fond of them. 😀

I forgot to put St. Monica 😵. St. Joseph needs some love, too. Actually all of them are good options.

St. Thomas More, which also was the name of the parish I returned to 50 years later that was instrumental in me returning back to the Church. And it was he who stood up to Henry VIII and refused to grant him an annulment so he could remarry, which led to St. Thomas being executed. The movie “A Man For All Seasons” was about this episode, and that movie has a strong appeal to me for another reason-- a long story.

Are these really the common ones? I don’t know all of these, but know several others like Saint Michael, Saint Augustine, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Ignacius, Saint Peter…

In the USA there are certain saints whose statues have an 80-90 percent chance of being in a Catholic church. Ranked in order of likelihood of seeing them, in my experience:
  1. The Blessed Virgin Mary
  2. St. Joseph
  3. St. Therese of Lisieux
  4. St. Anthony of Padua
The next group who are seen a little less often but still very common:
5. St. Francis of Assisi
6. St. Jude
7. St. Patrick
8. St. Mother Theresa

After that all bets are off.

St. Benedict Joseph Labre. I was truly moved by his story and way of life. He brought me closer to Christ in a time of darkness.

From looking around the UK it doesn’t look much different here to be honest, though in some areas particular regional saints feature eg St Bede, St Newman etc.

eg St Bede
Speaking of which…

St Bede the Venerable. He was an exceptional mind who had a life of work and incessant study, and immense erudition. When I’m at work, I often think of him researching and translating and compiling and commenting the Scripture again and again, dictating to his very last moments. He died singing the Glory be. His intercession carried me through tough years when I worked in an academical position.

He is the one who helped this Protestant open her heart to the communion of Saints. He also helped me turn again to Our Lady.
(And I’m not even English 😉 )

Not counting Mary or Joseph or my angel, St Faustina is the saint I’ve probably spent the most time talking to.

I voted Theotokos out of the given options but irl aside from her, I pray mainly to St. Hannah, St. John Chrysosthom,. St. Apostles Peter and St. Paul, St. Nicholas, St. Prophet Ellias, St. Anthony the Great, St. Paraskevi the New, Archangels Gavryil and Mihayil.

Who is he? I’m sure he’s amazing, but I’ve never heard of him. 🙂
