Who is your favorite scholastic thinker?

Who is your personal favorite of the great Scholastics of the Middle Ages?
 
I’m a monk at heart and so I my favorite scholastic thinker is Thomas a Kempis, in his work The Imitation of Christ.

Thomas a Kempis, correct me if I’m wrong, wasn’t a Scholastic philosopher, but simply an Augustinian monk. The Imitation of Christ is a work of devotion and piety, not an exercise in philosophy.
Though its wisdom is indeed unsurpassed in many respects.

You’re probably correct.
 
There is no contest here. I have a hard time seeing how some Catholic wouldn’t choose St. Thomas Aquinas… unless they are a partisan Franciscan.

Well, it’s more a matter of personal taste. I find St. Bonaventure to be an extremely close second.
