I love Ruth and Esther for their humility and courage. Their stories are also really beautiful.
I also like David and Judith as the warriors of the Scripture, with David as the more standard warrior and Judith for espionage. Truly, Protestants are missing out by not having Judith.
There’s also St. Peter and St. Mary Magdalene. The former offers both comic relief and some decent good shows of faith and mercy. The latter shows the quiet devotion to Christ.
If I had to pick from all six, I’ll go with Esther, just because Esther is my favorite book.
