Who or What is “Our Lady Of The Lake”? This may sound silly, but I’ve googled this and have not found an answer. I’m sure it’s St. Mary, but there must be a reason she is called this. Anyone know the reason?
The term is typically used for a church, chapel, etc. that is dedicated to Our Lady and is located near a lake. It is not an official title by the Holy See, but simply a geographical reference. Other churches may be named Our Lady of the Mountains, Desert, Prairie, etc.
