I’ve followed the story of the Traditional Catholic movement over the years (with a lapse of about 10 years, and I realize a lot can happen in that time), but WHAT IS THIS???

Its amazing what you can find on the internet, eh?

Is this guy a sedevacantist? Or something even worse? (His sayings on this site sound anti-SSPX, so I’m assuming he’s not with them.)

I LOVE Pope Michael! Of course, he’s a sedevacantist.

OK, I think he and his family are a little :whacky: but he’s such a tame and vulnerable sort of guy. I think his brother is Napoleon. (No: that’s a mean joke.)

I understand there are 18 or 19 “Popes” out there, some of them with a following of several hundred people.

If I were taking a graduate degree in religious history, I think doing a catalog/survey of these guys would be a good master’s degree thesis.

The SSPX are Catholics who believe in the Popes and are loyal to Pope Benedict.

Do not get them confused with the Sede crazies.

That guy is the leader of a tiny sede group that thinks there has been no Pope since Pius XII and elected that clown in their “conclave”.

There are small splinter Sedevacantist crazies who have “elected” their own “Popes” and are the true “church”.

You’re not serious, right?

I mean, he is kinda cute, but then again, he is the Pope…or whatever
There are a lot of people claiming to be the Pope, but this guy is one of the more pathetic ones. Unlike others, he’s not even a priest, and he was elected to the papacy by his parents. In answer to your first post, he’s not technically a sedevacantist, since he believes himself to be in the “sede”.

Oh I know fully that the SSPX is not sedevacantist (but I think the SSPV is.) There used to be another group years ago called the ORCM and I THINK they were sedevacantist, but I’m not sure.

By his parents???

And yes, how dumb of me! If he is the “Pope”, of course the sede is not vacante! :blushing:

Ya think if we pool all our information here and write it up we can get that master’s degree? Or maybe an article in Latin Mass Magazine or America?

Do you think these offshoot whacko groups could be classified as cults? Because I’ve written articles on various cults in the past, but never on any pseudo-Catholic ones.

I’m not sure they could *quite *qualify as cults, though they display some of the same characteristics.

These groups generally espouse straight-up orthodox Catholic theology concerning the doctrine of God.

How many languages does he speak? Unless he speaks 5, 6 I don’t think his papacy can be considered authentic.😉

Yes, yes, I know the only language that really matters if one is Pope is Latin. Just sayin’.

**Actually, Mr. David Barwen (to use his real name) and Mr. Lucien Pulvermacher (Pius XIII) are what are called “conclavists”, claiming to be elected by an emergency conclave of family and friends.

Barwen is the senior of the two.

He used to have his vita on line. It’s clear from them that he was thrown out of two seminaries for being obnoxious.

One of his electors had a change of heart and has a website about him called “THE CHURCH BETRAYED.”**

I don’t think there’s enough spiritual oomph in any of them to rise to the level of a cult.

Well, many define a “cult” as not just teaching doctrinal unorthodoxy, but also, any group that has a charismatic leader that is to be obeyed without question, which uses mind control, sleep deprivation and other tactics to enforce loyalty, and which tries to separate members from their families as well as take all their money.
