Thanks for your responses, I find this information very helpful and interesting.

I am Catholic and Confirmed, which is why I ask these questions from my understanding of what I learned is where many of these questions come from. Though simple in nature they were not expressly reviewed in my preparations to the minutia of what I am asking about here, that might be a bit much to cover? Also it might have annoyed the **** out of my teachers if I badgered them with a million questions which would deviate from the curriculum which is packed with material as it is without sidetracking them.

Dear St. Francis

In your post you mentioned the Angels chose at creation to be good or bad so that means they have free will then?
For that one moment, they had free will to choose to obey God or to become enemies of God.
So do they have souls then? Were the bad ones given souls?
You could say they are nothing but soul–they are spiritual beings with no body. Also, they are in many ways bettter than we are by nature: more knowledgeable, etc.
Also good and bad are kind of abstract words, was it that simple a choice God said be good or evil and they just decided to be evil? If that was at creation how did the devil get 1/3 more angels to follow him if they already decided to be good?
It is not respectful to leave the first letter of God’s name lower-case.

When they were created, 1/3 decided not to obey God. The decision was made by all the angels simultaneously, as I underdstand it.

It is said that the bad angels rebelled because God wanted the angels to serve us humans.
If angels are fallible and have the conscience of free will would they have souls?
The angels can no longer change their minds. That was a special gift God gave them, for just a moment.
Are souls tied to the concept of free will?
I am not sure this is known.
Angels have free will to be right or wrong so they have souls then because that means they can choose right or wrong, or do they just get a free get out of jail free card for their actions because God made them?
They have made thier choices, and they can no linger change.
If so why dont humans get that card?
Also doesnt that mean all angels even the venerated ones can just wake up and become evil
No.
Dear Jon S
God made Devil as his greatest creation, so what the devil the first or that doesnt matter? Also if god gave him free will would that be to act as an instrument of god so even though rebellion seems likes an act of free will, its part of Gods plan so the devils are in fact acting as an instrument of god. Is it possible to say that they didnt chose to ignore God after seeing him, but to kinda go about doing Gods work in a different way which of course would be better in dealing with humans which god didnt create yet?
Paleocon:
If the devils hate all creatures of god wouldnt they hate themself? Also if they knew god created everything how could they not believe in god, it seems like hmmm Im not sure of the word but I think its contradictory. They left god because they thought they could create better things or something maybe? But angels or devils dont make things they just exist far as I know.
General:
So lucifer means “light bringer” that is a bible thing from the bible? So as an instrument of God it would be correct to suggest that he freed humans from the Garden of Eden which could be viewed as a prison? In that vein of bringing light, wouldnt that be what god wanted because God created a whole planet and Adam and Eve are stuck in just a little garden to hang out in? Wouldnt it be best for them to leave the garden to make more humans since they werent making any humans in the garden? It must have gotten pretty boring in that garden after awhile I would imagine and seeing all of Gods creation seems better than just part of it, so would the devil be doing a “bad” thing there or a good thing by releasing them? Speaking of being stuck in the garden how come they didnt have sex in the garden, is that kind of controversial to say? Why did they leave the garden to do what they could have just done in the garden?

St Francis, thanks for your responses and interest in answering these questions, they are probably a bit annoying? Tried searching on google for information on this topic, but many took me to sites about Angels and Demons which either were about the Dan Brown Book having nothing to do with my inquiry or werent based on church doctrine merely a collection of urban legends and other mythologies without proper citations. Overall thanks for your time and effort in these questions or discussions. I could just have these discussions in my head but that wouldnt be very useful without good information from community feedback if that makes sense.
It is not respectful to leave the first letter of God’s name lower-case.
Sorry for that if it occurs either my shift key doesnt respond or I am typing and forget, been working on paying more attention to this since my habit in online type is not to use any capitalization at all, its a personal thing that I am paying more attention to, thanks for the supportive reminder.

This is what I dont understand, so God gives them the ability to choose for a moment then they make their choice and their stuck with it, I get that part. Then it says that satan led 1/3 of the angels with him, well how did that happen if the others were already good then they should stay in heaven? Having trouble understanding the whole they cant change their minds part with how they changed their minds.

If the devil took 1/3 how do we know that means they followed? What if that means he killed them or imprisoned them like prisoners of wars? Does the devil have the power to kill an angel? Because as seen in the picture in this thread Michael has a sword, what is that sword for? It must be a weapon to kill devils but he doesnt kill the devils and not to sure how many devils he killed but I dont recall reading about Michael killing them per se, if angels can kill eachother then couldnt they also kill humans when in physical form?
It is said that the bad angels rebelled because God wanted the angels to serve us humans.
Isnt that what the devils ended up doing working with mankind because there is alot about the devil being on the earth in the bible but not much about angels advancing any changes or exerting any influence over humanity. It is what makes me wonder why the devils are considered “bad”, did we as humans give them that reputation based on our limited understanding of the bible?

In some posts people say God asked the devil to be good or evil, others as you noted say god asked the devil to become his enemy or not. That seems very unusual, who would meet someone they didnt know and say they would be an enemy? Also if this question was posed by god at the moment of their creation with a moment to react to the question, how would any angel or otherwise have the mental faculties to arrive at a conclusion? In other words if their minds were created by god to make certain choices then maybe its the question we dont know about so we dont know it? Does this imply all the angels were created at the same time given the same moment to make the decision? Doesnt it say the devil and other angels were made better by God, those probably are not the right words but something like that.

My main concern is how do we know the devil is “evil” what if that is just our limited understanding of something we cant understand? He doesnt seem so “evil” doesnt seem the devil is portrayed as being “evil” such as making people trip and fall in mud or making peoples batteries constantly die in our iphones or going around say kicking puppies, that would be pretty “evil”. Creating the human race doesnt seem evil, or testing Jesus, I got tested in school all the time I wouldnt consider my teachers evil, well maybe this one english professor was a bit evil, he was kinda mean. The devil didnt kill Jesus, that would be “evil”. In those examples the few I can think of the devil seems to be acting as an instrument of God much like angels are similarly portrayed. Also so Demons can possess people but there are no records I know of for Angels possessing people, what if its the angels who are evil because they care not for humans since no interaction or if its that angels influence heaven keeping order while devils influence the realm of man? What would the purpose of the creation of an Angel be or Demon which I feel would be to be instruments of God regardless of classification they seem to do the same thing acting as instruments of Gods Will.

Just dont get what a devil is and how they fit into things, if they had free will to choose then that is a terrible design flaw which goes against the powers of God. Angels given free will to make such a flawed choice, would be equivalent to me making a car with a 50/50 chance it blows up. That is why I am unsure who or what this devil is, or is it an abstract principal having no real world value at all outside of a metaphorical teaching which seems to offer nothing biblical as a teaching to us as humans since their not human at all.

Angels are eternal beings. God created them this way, they have a divine nature. The angels stand in the presence of God.

Imagine, that even after standing in God’s presence, feeling all of God’s goodness to say, I want to be God. I am His equal. This is what Lucifer did, and the other fallen angels felt this way too. So, because God created them to be eternal, St. Michael had to send them away from heaven.
Being seperated from God equals hell.

God created angels to be divine-so the soul question does not pertain to angels. Humans are flesh and soul.

In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve also experienced God’s presence, and were blissfully happy because of this fact. When they disobeyed God, they became seperated from God, and were no longer content and happy. Adam and Eve allowed the devil to penetrate into this world, and stamp all of us with original sin.

To ask why doesn’t God just destroy the devil is to ask why did God allow original sin in the first place. It is because He wants to share eternity in heaven with those who want to truly share it with Him.

Thank you for your insightful response to my questions. My questions arise recently when thinking about these matters and can not find these answers myself looking online leads to often strange places that offer no insight into the given subject in the detail I would like.
Angels are eternal beings. God created them this way, they have a divine nature. The angels stand in the presence of God.
Does eternal mean immortal? Are Angels Immortal? I always assumed angels can be killed which is why Michael has that sword, then I question that Michael isnt recorded killing the devil or other angels so what is the sword for or does he use it to kill Angels/demons? Or is it merely a visual interpretation in art and there is no sword? Meaning its just art…

Other posts state God gave the angels a question to answer, in your post it states that the devil makes a statement which is not an answer to a question. This timeline seems to be at the core of my questions relating to the devil being good or evil, and weather it is us as humans who depict the devil as evil since in the bible I dont believe God every says “Hey Devil your evil now.” Im wondering if the Devil isnt just another servant of Gods Will in this manner meaning not “evil” just kind of being there?

This also leaves me with the conundrum of if God created the devil to be so “perfect”, then why is the devil so dumb? So hes up there with God, the same God who created everything around the devil, and who created the devil, then just suddenly thinks he is God? This conclusion the devil draws is based on no supporting information, the devil has no power to create so where would he assume he could suddenly be God?

This would seem to erroneously possibly indicate that the power of God is not from God but some other thing the Devil thought they could obtain perhaps? Some item or thing, because if it is a power and the devil has no ability to create why would the devil suddenly think the devil can create? This is what seems contradictory in the story for me, that the devil has no power to create, never demonstrated any, and suddenly the devils thinks they have that power and go around yelling their Gods equal now having no justification to say so, that seems like a terrible invention by God since the devil is created by God? As an example it would be like creating a car that had a 50/50 shot of exploding when I got in it, that is a terrible design flaw.
My thought on the garden of Eden of is that Adam and Eve maybe already were doing things wrong by not enjoying the experience of being human that God gave them. They were not procreating, exploring the world, building new technologies or creating. It seems they were being bad humans in my opinion. My question with that in mind would be, is the devil freeing them from that prison causing them to become human as God intended? God spent 6 days creating everything not just the garden which is why I bring this up, if the point was to keep them in the garden, why bother making anything else? So in that way I feel the devil is acting as an instrument of god perhaps? From what I can see I wonder if it is that the devil got a bad rap through being misunderstood and the devil is a tool of god like the angels serving in the same role with a different function. Meaning same kind of role carrying out Gods will but in a different capacity meaning working with humans which angels dont seem to do and are not recorded doing or caring about right? At least it doesnt seem Angels care much about humans one way or the other.
To ask why doesn’t God just destroy the devil is to ask why did God allow original sin in the first place. It is because He wants to share eternity in heaven with those who want to truly share it with Him.
Right I get this part, God loves all his creatures so he wouldnt destroy the devil, so I get that its the rest im kind of foggy on. Couldnt the devils actions still be construed as acting as an instrument of God in the garden of Eden aka the devil is not “evil” the devil did not invent the original sin that was humans.

Feel free to tell me im wrong on this part as it is just me opining on the subject:

Original sin I feel is inherent to the human condition as created by god, meaning with or without the devil or the tree it was already manifest in some way since it is a key difference between Gods previous inventions being Angels which were divine in nature. So just putting the tree of Knowledge there for example is merely the plot device to move the story along but is actually irrelevant to the original sin inherent in the human condition. If the devil telling them to eat the apple was “evil”, then wouldnt the “tree” just being there be considered “evil”. That of course isnt possible because God put the tree there and God isnt evil, which leads me to believe that the tree represents that original sin is part of the human condition. In that case with the tree being there and the devil telling them to eat the apple, why is the devil considered “evil” for the humans behaving like humans. I equate putting that tree in the garden to telling someone not to hit a big red button then leaving the room and of course they hit the big red button but I wouldnt equate that action to mean the individual is evil, nor would I equate if someone walked in the room saying go ahead hit the button get some free candy, to that enabler being labeled “evil”, the original sin would be simply in being faced with the issue of making the decision I think so it all works that original sin can still exist, original sin does not seem to rely on the devil being “evil”.

There’s quite a few places to find reliable Catholic information. Here are a few,
Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church
What was the fall of the angels?
This expression indicates that Satan and the other demons, about which Sacred Scripture and the Tradition of the Church speak, were angels, created good by God. They were, however, transformed into evil because with a free and irrevocable choice they rejected God and his Kingdom, thus giving rise to the existence of hell. They try to associate human beings with their revolt against God. However, God has wrought in Christ a sure victory over the Evil One.
What was the first human sin?
When tempted by the devil, the first man and woman allowed trust in their Creator to die in their hearts. In their disobedience they wished to become “like God” but without God and not in accordance with God (Genesis 3:5). Thus, Adam and Eve immediately lost for themselves and for all their descendants the original grace of holiness and justice.
What is original sin?

Original sin, in which all human beings are born, is the state of deprivation of original holiness and justice. It is a sin “contracted” by us not “committed”; it is a state of birth and not a personal act. Because of the original unity of all human beings, it is transmitted to the descendants of Adam “not by imitation, but by propagation”. This transmission remains a mystery which we cannot fully understand.
Why do we conclude by asking “But deliver us from evil”?
“Evil” indicates the person of Satan who opposes God and is “the deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9). Victory over the devil has already been won by Christ. We pray, however, that the human family be freed from Satan and his works. We also ask for the precious gift of peace and the grace of perseverance as we wait for the coming of Christ who will free us definitively from the Evil One.

Angels and Demons: What Do We Really Know about Them? by Peter J. Kreeft

The sword is just art. Angels are spiritual beings, with a beginning, but no end. They cannot be killed.
This also leaves me with the conundrum of if God created the devil to be so “perfect”, then why is the devil so dumb? So hes up there with God, the same God who created everything around the devil, and who created the devil, then just suddenly thinks he is God? There are thousands upon thousands of highly intelligent humans in the world who have convinced themselves that they are their own gods by not following the true God. I find it quite possible that an angel with an intellect far superior to humans’ would be able to convince himself of the same thing.
My thought on the garden of Eden of is that Adam and Eve maybe already were doing things wrong by not enjoying the experience of being human that God gave them. They were not procreating, exploring the world, building new technologies or creating. It seems they were being bad humans in my opinion.
The purpose of being human is to know and to love God. While the first humans dwelt in the garden, they knew and loved God, therefore they were doing all that God intended of them. After the fall, they began searching for things that were not God, with the false assumption that these things would make them more human. This leads to wars, and broken families, the destruction of the world through pollution, as examples. I do not believe this is what God created us for.
We as Catholics believe that all God wants is for his creations to love him, because he so loves them. The devil hates this design, and works on his own to separate us from God’s love. God did not command him to do so. God did not intend for us to be so spiritually tested, but perhaps there was no way to create us otherwise. In other words, he saw what would happen, he knew of the fall of the angels and humans, but he still made us because he so wanted to share his love with us. And how do we repay him? By hurting him and rejecting him because we think we are our own gods.

Dear M-Dent, thank you for the links and knowing where to look in the catechism.

Where did this information come from about what happened I dont recall it being in the bible? It says the “evil one”, my question is if this view is from our own human perspective? This part is confusing for me, so the devil rejects God, but tortures all those who join him? It just seems really weird he would be the chief enforcer of God in a way but also reject God? In a way if the devil is ruling hell and punishing people for not being one with God, wouldnt the devil be acting as an instrument of God and in that vein not be “evil”. I dont recall the bible saying Jesus overcame the evil one, could this be a mis translation or some kind of play on words? Is that possible that the words are meant to be used differently? I wonder if this is something as humans we cant understand?

I dont get this part, so the devil just got up one day and rejected things without any motivation? What was being rejected? Is this inferring the Devil rejected that God existed who was right there because that doesnt make sense. Isnt the devil when he was made supposed to be the best angel, so in essence to do the things he does like tempting Jesus and the Eden thing, ruling hell, isnt the devil still acting in that capacity?

This sounds like if at work I walked in to my bosses office and told him that the financing department is doing a terrible job managing accounts with payment and billing and the boss fired me on the spot. But then the boss still had me come in everyday to fix the problems in the financing department. Im still working for the same guy in a different capacity, this seems analogous to what maybe happened to the devil?

Fr Hardon’s page is very easy to read and informative. I liked it very much.
on the page it says this:
It was divinely providential that Christ allowed Himself to be tempted by the devil at the beginning of His public ministry. He is teaching us one of the most important lessons we need to learn in life. If He, the living God in human form, was tempted by the evil spirit, then we must expect to be tempted as well.

Couldnt the devil be an earthly check and balance that challenged Jesus as an instrument of God to detect who the anti christ would be and then would like do his thing with the anti christ once found? (wasnt sure if I should capitalize the C in antichrist or not.)

The sword is just art. Angels are spiritual beings, with a beginning, but no end. They cannot be killed.
thanks for taking time to reply Stephen, I was thinking that the sword was visual for art but wanted to be sure, thanks for the feedback.

I find it quite possible that an angel with an intellect far superior to humans’ would be able to convince himself of the same thing.
This is the part that confuses me, if the devil was made to be so “perfect” by design a creature with such a terrible design flaw as being dumb? Its pretty dumb to be right next to God and suddenly convince themself they are God for no reason other than just because. I dont think God would make such a dumb design, I feel there must be something more going on there. I dunno about people thinking their “Gods”, but for example if I go stand near a mechanic I dont start thinking Im a mechanic who can machine a new head gasket for an engine. This is like the “grandfather paradox” to me, how can a being the devil in this case who does not have the ability to create as God does and did by creating the devil, suddenly think they can be God though lack any God like power such as creating an infinite supply of devils.
This part confuses me to, wouldnt God want the humans to be more Human? That was the whole point of humans vs creating just more angels right? This is what gives rise to my question of the devil being an instrument of God freeing the humans from the Garden of Eden where they were not behaving as humans do but instead as you noted like angels behaving in a divine nature which is not human nature.
We as Catholics believe that all God wants is for his creations to love him, because he so loves them. The devil hates this design, and works on his own to separate us from God’s love. God did not command him to do so. God did not intend for us to be so spiritually tested, but perhaps there was no way to create us otherwise. That is very great to read, at least it makes alot of sense to me, thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. On the timeline it sounds like you might know when the angels fell and I am unsure of when this occurred, did it occur at the creation of man, before, after, etc? In that way by having Humans focus more on God because of this devil wouldnt that again be a possibility that the devil is acting as an instrument of God?

I dont get it 1/3 left heaven and “fell”, where would that come from data wise aka citation wise? I mean how do we know they didnt volunteer to leave and go to earth to act in some other capacity?

Accidental post somehow the edit button disappeared on my post where I was fixing things like capitalization and stuff and made this post. so I just deleted it 😛

M-Dent, thank you for the links and knowing where to look in the catechism.

What was the fall of the angels?

Where did this information come from about what happened I dont recall it being in the bible? It says the “evil one”, my question is if this view is from our own human perspective?
I find it most accurately described as part of the Deposit of Faith. But yes Scripture and Tradition attest to this revelation. This section of the Catechism has footnotes that points to Scripture.
Couldnt the devil be an earthly check and balance that challenged Jesus as an instrument of God to detect who the anti christ would be and then would like do his thing with the anti christ once found? (wasnt sure if I should capitalize the C in antichrist or not.)
I find the title “an earthly check and balance” would fail to express the reality of the devil. Such a title could too easily be misconstrued as a personification of bad decisions.

As Catholics our starting point for inquiry demands an understanding of what is or is not an open question. Thus if I indulge myself in some sort of exegetical pursuit I weigh out if I have a firm grasp of authentic and authoritative Catholic exegesis on the subject matter.

Thankfully, the question of the ‘evil one, Satan, or the Devil’ (however the being is named) has been authoritatively answered. I find Pope Paul VI (during a General Audience in 1972) clearly expressed Church teaching on the issue.
It is a departure from the picture provided by biblical Church teaching to refuse to acknowledge the Devil’s existence; to regard him as a self-sustaining principle who, unlike other creatures, does not owe his origin to God; or to explain the Devil as a pseudo-reality, a conceptual, fanciful personification of the unknown causes of our misfortunes. When the problem of evil is seen in all its complexity and in its absurdity from the point of view of our limited minds, it becomes an obsession. It poses the greatest single obstacle to our religious understanding of the universe It is no accident that St. Augustine was bothered by this for years: “I sought the source of evil, and I found no explanation.”
Thus we can see how important an awareness of evil is if we are to have a correct Christian concept of the world, life and salvation. We see this first in the unfolding of the Gospel story at the beginning of Christ’s public life. Who can forget the highly significant description of the triple temptation of Christ? Or the many episodes in the Gospel where the Devil crosses the Lord’s path and figures in His teaching?[10] And how could we forget that Christ, referring three times to the Devil as His adversary, describes him as “the prince of this world”?
There are many things we do know, however, about this diabolical world, things that touch on our lives and on the whole history of mankind. The Devil is at the origin of mankind’s first misfortune- he was the wily, fatal tempter involved in the first sin, the original sin.[16] That fall of Adam gave the Devil a certain dominion over man, from which only Christ’s Redemption can free us. It is a history that is still going on: let us recall the exorcisms at Baptism, and the frequent references in Sacred Scripture and in the liturgy to the aggressive and oppressive “power of darkness.”[17] The Devil is the number one enemy, the preeminent tempter.
So we know that this dark disturbing being exists and that he is still at work with his treacherous cunning; he is the hidden enemy who sows errors and misfortunes in human history. It is worth recalling the revealing Gospel parable of the good seed and the cockle, for it synthesizes and explains the lack of logic that seems to preside over our contradictory experiences: “An enemy has done this.”[18] He is “a murderer from the beginning, . . . and the father of lies,” as Christ defines him.

Did god create Satan First? As in before humans or angels and stuff? Read that online somewhere that Saan was created first, also is “satan” just a word meaning adversary, who is this lucifer then and mephistopholes from the bible are they like a trinity of hell?

If the devil was in the garden and got adam and eve kicked out isnt the devil the one that started humanity so is he a bad guy or a tool of god?

If God invented the devil how is it a bad thing? As in how is the devil bad? If the devil is not God how could he kill god? What is the whole battle of angels about if god could just snap his finger and the devil is gone?

When Jesus was here the devil did that test thing to jesus. Was this to make sure jesus was worthy acting again as an instrument of god?

So if the devil is an instrument of god, how did he get such a bad wrap? How would the devil “fight” god anyways as stated in the bible?
Do you have a Catechism of The Catholic Church? That’s where you’ll find answers to these and many other questions.

God Bless.

Here is how a priest who is my spiritual director explained it to me:

God and the angels “existed” before the Earth. They are “outside of time” and do not have physical bodies. When they were “created”, they instantly knew everything that would ever happen. They knew that God would create the world, create us, and one day have to become one of us to save us. Lucifer did not like this. He thought it was beneath God. It was sort of a “my way or the highway” concept with God. Lucifer left and many other angels left with him.

Bridgett,
Here is a link to the Baltimore Catechism section I mentioned earlier. It is a lot more straightforward than the current CCC. I think if you read this section, some of your questions might be answered. It’s not very long.

If you continue reading, or click this link, you will find the section on Original Sin.

The reason I suggest you read this first is that then some of your questions will be answered, but you will also have an organized presentation of some of the basic facts you need to know in order to understand the answers we give to some of your questions.

Thanks everyone for taking time out of their day to reply. Been so busy havent been able to respond sooner and wanted to take time to read the links shared with me.
Bridgett,
If you continue reading, or click this link, you will find the section on Original Sin.
Thank you for replying the Baltimore Catechism is official for us Catholics? Great reading and very well put together using modern english usage making it easy for someone like me to read at least. Its kind of written in everyday speak making it more udnerstandable if that makes sense.

Could “original sin” also be the inherent fact that humans can choose to turn away from God thus allowing one to develop the sacred value of “faith”? Going back to the garden, I find it odd to attribute the creation of original sin with the devil instead of being part of gods plan, because without that “original sin”, I feel humans would not have the value of faith. In that vein, the devil I feel would be a tool of god, not as evil, but maybe doing things his own way to get the ball rolling?

In the catechism I dont get the whole part where it says the devil said we could “be like God”. How is that possible because humans have souls, Im not 100% sure but I dont think God has a soul, right? What if the motive of the devil when saying “be like God”, was to challenge people to follow Gods teachings or summer eternal damnation? I wonder this because it sounds alot like cleanliness is next to godliness, meaning those who live closer to God’s word can experience a more full experience of being human without making it harder on the people around them?

*those vatican pages are hard on the eyes, they really should bold that font 😃

Thanks everyone for taking time out of their day to reply. Been so busy havent been able to respond sooner and wanted to take time to read the links shared with me.

Thank you for replying the Baltimore Catechism is official for us Catholics?
If you know enough to ask that question, you already know the answer 😉

Also are there any answers to the above questions without reading the entire catechism 😛 its a bit long. I doubt even if I read it that I would understand it really.
Knowing the faith takes time and effort. It can’t be understood in an a blog session. Better to start reading the catechism than to repeatedly ask the same questions.
Pray. Read. Listen. Pray some more. Absorb what the Church teaches. The Church has answers to all your questions about free will. The answers are not always easy to accept but they are reason-able.

Thanks for replying, the thought of “free will” was exactly what was on my mind when ending the last post. Some posts state the devil made the choice to be “evil” in an instant knowing everything that would happen is how the devil arrived at that conclusion. If that were true that everything was set in stone, then the angels would have had no free will to make a decision, nor would God have free will, or humans for that matter I was thinking? Based upon my thoughts about the devils choice based upon posts Ive read and parts of the catechism I understand so far, it seems like the angels may have seen the world as it would be with no intervention possibly, the devil seeing this was displeased so struck out to enforce Gods will as the instrument of god they were created to be? not being in Gods light is their sacrifice to push mankind towards the path of salvation possibly in order to grow closer to God?

Too much to learn in a blog session, but I am unsure there is any place in the real world I could broach such questions. I could head over to a church one near me has a monk, he is so friendly, but I dont want to eat up their time when I know they have lots of stuff to do. Maybe I should walk over there and bug someone about it see if they can point me in the right direction? I do the reading but without some kind of assistance I feel I may misunderstand it, like I dont understand what a Latherean council is for example.
It is not possible. That is why he is the Father of Lies
To me the quote comes off sounding dumb, humans cant go around popping things into existence the very notion violates the conservation of mass, matter can neither be created nor destroyed. The devil created by God I cant see saying something so silly, hence if it was stated as a challenge to humans to follow gods teachings, it would make sense as an instrument of god? Its in the Angel DNA to act with God’s will Id imagine? Perhaps these phrases are misinterpreted?
