I have it on my facebook that I get a scripture a day to read. I dont understand this one too well and was wondering if some of you people can tell me about it. Here is the book and verse.
Job 14:13-16 “'Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me! 'If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes. 'You will call, and I will answer You; You will long for the work of Your hands. 'For now You number my steps, You do not observe my sin.”

Who or what is Sheol?

the abode of the dead, but not hell, the place referred to in the Creed where Jesus went after the Resurrection to liberate the souls of the righteous dead so they could at last enter heaven.

Sheol is not Purgatory, Sheol is the same as the Greek word Hades, which is the place in the OT where the souls of the just and the unjust went. There was a chasm that separated the just and the unjust. The souls of the just was in a place called paradise, and is also referred to as Abraham’s bosom in the New Testament. The souls of the unjust were and still are in a place of torment. When Jesus ascended to Heaven He took the souls of the just to Heaven with Him, and the souls of the unjust will stay there in Hades until the resurrection when their bodies will be raised and united with their souls, and then they will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. Hades/Sheol is continuely being added to by those who die out of the state of grace. When the just person dies their souls either go to Heaven or have to go through Purgatory before they get to Heaven. The just will also rise at the end of time and their souls will be reunited with their bodies and their bodies will be glorified.

I have done a big critique on those places of the afterlife, and I go into depth on Sheol, here is the link litteralchristianlibrary.wetpaint.com/page/Heaven%2C+Hell%2C+and+the+Afterlife

Sheol is for sure “The Abode of the Dead” or “The Netherworld” a place of “No Activity or Lofty Emotion” (NAB)… It is a place surrounded by darkness and oblivion, (see Nm. 16 or Ps. 6,6). God also revealed a clearer notion prior to the time of Christ in Wis. 3 where resurrection of the dead was first introduced… 👍
