Anita, don’t be discouraged. I’m sorry you felt “shut down” in RCIA.

Could you tell us whether English is your first language? Some of the things you say are hard to understand, and if it’s not your first language or you have a language disability, that might be part of why you are confused by these things. As I said, they are difficult to understand for anyone - but they will be even harder to understand if there is a language barrier.

I know the things I am talking about from reading theology and the Bible.

It seems to me like the main thing you are having difficulty with is the doctrine of the Trinity. I am curious, in your reading of the Bible, what do you make of the Holy Spirit?

Also, since you are confused by the relationship between the Father and the Son, maybe this quote from Catholic Encyclopedia would be helpful:
Rationalist critics lay great stress upon the text: “The Father is greater than I” (14:28). They argue that this suffices to establish that the author of the Gospel held subordinationist views, and they expound in this sense certain texts in which the Son declares His dependence on the Father (5:19; 8:28). In point of fact the doctrine of the Incarnation involves that, in regard of His Human Nature, the Son should be less than the Father. No argument against Catholic doctrine can, therefore, be drawn from this text. So too, the passages referring to the dependence of the Son upon the Father do but express what is essential to Trinitarian dogma, namely, that the Father is the supreme source from Whom the Divine Nature and perfections flow to the Son.
The part that I put in bold means, since the second person of the Trinity (the Son) took on flesh and became a human being, inasmuch as he is human, he is less than the Father. But inasmuch as he is God, he is equal to the Father and one with the Father. The last sentence in the quote stresses that within the relations of the Holy Trinity, God the Father is the supreme source.

The reason this is so difficult is because it is asking us to hold, at the same time, things that appear contradictory. You ask, why would God make it so confusing for us. I guess the answer is, because that’s the way it actually is - it’s true. We know about the Trinity because God has revealed it. He has told us something about Himself. We find this confusing because of our own limitations.

So we have the choice of believing a religion that is built around us - around our limitations - a religion that is easy and where everything makes sense to us. Or believing the religion that God revealed, that is greater than us because it is about a God who is real and far beyond our human capacity for understanding.

If you think that none of these mysteries are present in the Bible and that everything in the Bible is clear, then you are missing a lot of what is in the Bible. No offense. But the Bible is full of what appear to be contradictions and mysteries.

You should read the thread i am a convert sorry for you your doubts make you mad. Maybe you should have prayed about me and found peace form your doubts. Jesus is written in the gospel to teach us to pray to Our Father and taking his teachings we have peace. I know thats from the bible but what else should i do to learn. Ask questions here and disturb you?
You should most def ask your questions. It doesn’t disturb me that you ask questions. It’s curious that you say that you are Catholic, but you ask questions that would suggest that you are not Catholic. Since I was curious, I asked you. 👍

You didn’t have peace, so you asked. I was curious (never said I was lacking peace) and I asked. 😛
And you think it is wrong for me to seek understanding? roll your eyes forward again and try to see me rather than inside of yourself.
Hmm… Never said it was wrong for you to seek understanding. Maybe you could read some of my posts (I’ve been here for about 5 years. There are a few) 🙂

Who is the O Prince in this line who is dependant on God.

As a child I used to think it meant Jesus but if Jesus is God how would he be dependant of Jesus.

I am now pondering an i to be the O Prince is the angel Michael but isn’t it Jesus who will throw satan to the abyss / hell?

Or am i to understand Michael will throw him to hell and Jesus will enter hell throw him into the deeper part of it.
St Michael is the Prince and he Casts Satan into Hell - by the power of GOD.

Scripturally - Rev 12 ver 7 - 8

Does that mean God divided? part of Him in flesh and part still in heaven?

If you say he was fully in both places then why did Jesus pray to Him and tech us to pray to Him?

If God has one mind always knowing and always seeing Jesus being fully God and fully man the fully man would have to know all his mind always.
What you are asking about in Theology is known as the Hypostatic Union. At the top of this forum look that term up in the Catholic Encyclopedia. Hope this helps.

So when he said to the lady he did not know the seats at the table, he really meant i know but in flesh wont tell you?
The “seats” in question were reserved for the two thieves, St. Dismas, who said, “Jesus, remember me, when you come into your kingdom,” and Gestas, the one who mocked Jesus. Jesus already knew that, but He didn’t explain it to “the lady” (the mother of James and John) because it was not any of her business, at that time. The only information that she needed to know was that her sons were not to be “glorified” in that way.

Anita,

Im reading your posts and I see and sense your confusion.
The first question that pops into my head before I give my thoughts on this is, by your posts I am wondering if English is not your native language?

It seems to be that there is a language comprehension challenge here??

My reading of the St Michael Prayer makes it clear to me that Michael is the prince referred too (as Christ is our King so He cant be the prince.)

Also, you mentioned RCIA so I am to understand that you come from another faith tradition other than Catholic? Can I ask , if this is so, then what would that be?

When I went thru RCIA I was a former Mormon and sometimes its hard to unwind one’s mind from a past faith tradition and try to understand Catholicism.

I was still affected by my old prism of Mormonism (even though I had long ago left it). And sometimes I didnt realize that those old and corrupted teachings were still affecting my ability to be open.

Hope this makes sense

 I’ve never heard this before. Why would the thief who mocked Jesus reign next to him in Heaven?

No, no - the wife of Zebedee was asking for her sons to be seated next to Jesus in His Glory (which I suppose she might have thought was Heaven, although it’s more likely that she thought that Jesus was going to establish an earthly kingdom) - that is to say, on the Cross - only she had no way of knowing that Jesus was going to be Glorified on the throne of the Cross.

My rosary has a medal of St. Michael the Archangel, so I always end with his prayer, it is kind of nice.

Another interesting question about the rosary for people who have an appreciation of the EF of the mass…Do you pray the Luminous Mysteries on Thursday? I go both ways, but more often than not I follow the old form from my missal.

John

“The 10th Hail Mary and the Our Father”? In a Rosary?

There are many ways to pray the Rosary (I always say there are none that are wrong so long as you are praying for convesation with God and do so with reverance) 😛

Most Rosaries - all that I have ever seen - ONLY have the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father at the start.

After the 10th Hail Mary is usually the Gloria Patri, which is followed by the closing prayers of the Salve Regina and Memorare and Doxology, then you would do the St. Michael Prayer. 🙂
Agreed - Generally we begin the Rosary With the Apostles Creed and then one our Father and three Hail Mary’s and a Glory Be prior to the 5 Decades. Each decade begins with an Our Father and then Ten Hail Mary’s ending with a Glory Be. After the Decade we add the Fatima Prayer - Oh my Jesus Forgive us our sins , save us from the Fires of Hell , lead all souls to heaven especially those who have most need of thy Mercy.

We pray the Joyful on Mondays and Thursdays the Sorrowful on Tuesday and Friday and the Glorious on Wednesday and Saturday. On Sunday we pray whats appropriate for the season. We dont pray the Lumenous - some Catholics do.

Yeah… but how does some one put the St. Michael Prayer between the 10th Hail Mary and the Lord’s Prayer?

If the Lord’s Prayer is said before they Hail Marys, and never after the decade of Hail Marys, how is it inserted?

Just trying to figure it out is all.

I never have heard of anyone doing that. Now after the Rosary we usually pray various prayers - like the Hail Holy Queen and then perhaps after that the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and then maybe the Short version of the Prayer to St Michael. But never during.

Maybe you were thinking of the “Oh my Jesus forgive us our Sins” Fatima Prayer?

I have never once seen anyone pray the St Michael Prrayer during the Rosary.

Maybe others have.

The post of mine you were responding to? I was responding to another person stating that they did the St. Michael’s Prayer after the 10th Hail Mary and before Lord’s Prayer.

I was asking them for clarification.

Sorry for any confusion.🙂

Robert : Me too , I never heard of that before now. I was trying to respond to that as well.

I see…

I do recall seeing it somewhere that the St. Michael prayer is can be said in between decades. I can’t find it now though :o

I do, The rosary was given too ST Domince and Bless Alan back in the year 1643,because are Lady wanted them too tell the people too say the rosary, at one point
when they weren,t do as Our Lady ask them too do,Jesus appeared too them and
said, why aren,t you doing what my mother ask you to do,too tell the people too said the
rosary, so they began to tell the people , but the people were, not listhing and God
punish Europe for three years,So Our Lady once again ask the people too pray the
rosary, and if they did they would spare punishment and peace would come back too
Europe, so they did for one year, when the last enemy left there village, they thank
OUR Lady and now hold a feast day on that day when the last enemy left too this
ever day.
Code:
The rosary is a powerful weapon,we have agains the Devil, and it is the salvation
for our soul,s, and Saint Louis De Montfort said, A true child of Mary has never been lost.
Saint Alphonsus Maria Liguori Said, If you persevere till death in true devotion to Mary, your salvation is certain.,and many people do say the rosary, usually in church,s
or people gather in some one,s home and pray the rosary. I say the rosary in
church at home or even when I,am walking down the street, I,am not afraid to
show people that I love saying the rosary,I,am showing God that I love Jesus mother
and I want too be with Jesus and his mother in the end
