Dear Friends,
Who was quoted to say, " A saint is a sinner who keeps on trying." ?

Dear Bjustb,

Thanks but which one is TRUTH? There can be lots of answers to a problem but only one can be right and one is true?

are we talking about “saint” or “Saint” as in canonized Saint? - they are different.

welcome Mrs Younan to CAF!!!

I’m not sure who said THAT, but Oscar Wilde said ‘Every great saint has a past, every great sinner has a future.’ Do you like that one too?

A contemporary Christian musician, the late Bob Carlisle, has a song out on Christian radio that tells the story of a man who would pass by a monastery on his journeys, always wondering what happened there. One day as he passes by, one of the priests happens to be walking out near the road. The man asks him what the monks do in there.

The priest replies, “We fall down, we get up, we fall down, we get up. We fall down, we get up, and the saints are just the sinners who fall down, and get up.”

We saints are just sinners who fall down, but through God’s grace, we pray that we can find the mercy to get back up.

In this case I would go with the source quoting Nelson Mandella because it’s an older date. Maybe Nelson got it from somewhere else though, so I don’t know for sure. It sounds pretty Augustinian to me, but I have no source.
