Free will entails a choice. As Christians, we believe that there is an ultimate choice between good (God) and evil (Satan), but who tempted Satan to disobey God and choose evil? The ability to choose between good and evil is what gives rise to free will. Again, who tempted Satan to choose evil?

Do angels have a free will? (I assume not.)

As purported in Job, it seems that Satan’s job is to tempt humans so that we may be tested. Could this be the reason God created Satan and the “rebellious” angels?

.

hope this helps,
"Not all sin requires a tempter. Satan has an active role in humankind’s destructive ways, but he’s not to blame for every sin and certainly didn’t need a tempter himself.
If someone dropped a wallet filled with $100 bills in front of you, Satan does not need to suggest to you that you could buy some pretty nice stuff with that.
If a naked woman’s picture popped up on the screen, why would Satan need to step in and suggest something sinful? Wouldn’t you have done that on your own?
Sin is making choices that go against God’s desire for us. Our habits and desires rooted firmly in our minds quickly default to the choices we’ve made before.
Satan himself obviously witnessed the power and glory God received and thought “I could do better” or “I should get some of that praise.”
Just as Satan makes freewill choices, so do we. Satan didn’t need anyone to compel him to sin and we cannot blame him for all our choices either.
The devil doesn’t always make you do it. "

Yes, angels have a free will! 🙂 the difference from us is that they don’t have bodies and they are privileged enough to see that face of God everyday. (That being said, they have higher intelligence and stronger convictions)

You sign yourself as a Hindu, then reference yourself as a Christian. Which is it?

I do not think there was any being that tempted him. It was his pride and wanting to be higher than God that made him turn from the beautiful lightbearer to Satan.

I like the attribution of Satan’s job to Job! 🙂
However Satan was not created explicitly to be the Arch-tempter. He succumbed to the lust for power which is not irresistible…
