The Catholic Church would be against any armed insurrection which subverted the state authority in the dispensation of justice. The mob was took to itself an authority it did not have to itself. That is what the mob in carthage did do in the end. This said, where there is a proper lack authority, a mob may be most proximate entity to keep order.
However, from a human perspective, when these is a belief that justice will not be served, the people may take matters into their own hands. Given that the JSJ had broken out of jail and escaped in the past, the fact that he had smuggled pistols in the jail cell, should be considered mitigating factors. Being in possession of firearms while in jail just following the rules.
As for the Bible, many crimes required the death penalty. Whether or not a state applies it is and should be left to the prudential judgement of the state. If you do not like the death penalty, that is well and good, but don’t get carried away trying to read into the bible you opinion - it is not there. When it does mean Thou shalt not kill, it means the shedding of innocent blood.

If I read this right, then you are saying that the Catholic Church would not have approved of the mob storming the jail to take away his life. That was my question. Thank you for answering it. In the eyes of the Church, then, it would not have been considered a good thing. I think it’s fair then to say that these were not goodly people doing a goodly thing. These were angry vigilantes doing what they thought needed to be done (understandably so), even though Joseph had not been tried, convicted and sentenced of a capital offense.
I’m not in any way sticking up for Joseph Smith. I think he was an evil man, a con artist and a sexual predator, not to mention the lies, counterfeiting, rioting, treason, attempted murder and all the other things that he was accused of. I believe he was guilty of all of them. I think that among the mob were men who were more than a little upset that he had hit on their wives. I’d be furious as well. But I don’t think that “thou shalt not kill” allows for us to be the judge, jury and executioner. I don’t think that God’s laws change, and I do believe that the slaying of Joseph Smith was a violation of the sixth commandment.

Mitt Romney threw Judge Roy Moore under the bus for allegedly having sexual relations with a 14 year old girl when he was 32, yet belongs to a church whose leader, Joseph Smith, preyed on a 14 year old girl when he was 36. Makes sense to me.

The Bible does not explicitly teach the Trinity. It is assumed that those who read it knew it. So one has to come to the bible with a already formed mind (an enculturation in a sense). Reading the bible requires assumptions not contained in the bible

I don’t think that is entirely right. The Bible does explicitly teach the Trinity because not only are the three persons of the Trinity mentioned multiple times as distinct persons, they are mentioned as also being of one nature. I think it’s more accurate to say that the Bible doesn’t explicitly lay out all the details of the Trinity and how it can exactly be defined.

I would not be surprised that someone from the IAU will not at some point name a some planet or star proximate to Sgr A Kolob. Some of the guys there have a wicked sense of humor. Eventually a few in that region are going to be suck in the SMBH which is Sag A. Some in the LDS leadership theorized in the past that it was Sag A, but come to find out it is a SMBH. Anyone who is going to hie to Kolob would have to be hieing at the speed of tachyons.
