Who was the most handsome saint?

there are a number of saints who became hermits just to avoid the temptation you speak of. so maybe all of the hermits were handsome???

I’ve heard Augustine had a pretty generous girth. Of course maybe that happened post-conversion. :rolleyes:
 
Who really cares who was the handsomest? Who had the most beautiful soul? I would say St. Francis.

Ooh, seconded on Pier Giorgio Frassati: first time I saw a photo of him, I quickly developed a crush on him. That and he was a fun guy to hang out with, by all accounts: I love guys who play light-hearted practical jokes on his friends!
 
St. Clare of Assisi was known for her great beauty. That was one reason her noble family objected to her running away to St. Francis to live in poverty as a nun. When he cut her beautiful golden hair it was a supreme act of mortification. I think I heard her hair is still kept at the Basilica w/ her name in Assisi. 🙂
 
According to one legend, St. Christopher was so very handsome he asked to be disfigured, lest he lead others astray. He woke up the next morning with a dog’s head.
 
St Kevin has to be a main contender. Legend has it he was so plagued by amorous women that he was forced to throw one over a cliff and another into a patch of stinging nettles to cool their ardour.

Hm. I remember reading one legend that he actually was some sort of dog-headed humanoid creature anyway. Does that mean he was a kindly werewolf, I wonder??
 
It has to be difficult interacting with people when one is Saintly…at peace with yourself and at peace with God.

I know from my own experience when leaving Mass, complete strangers will smile at me. A woman friend who is very devout and about to become a Catholic has had similar experiences with men coming on to her constantly. All devout people have the peace of God and people are drawn to it without recognising it for what it truly is. I think that is a very interesting concept and very reassuring.
