It seems like all the heroes of the Old Testament had at least one fatal flaw. Moses messed up by striking the rock a second time instead of trusting God’s Word. Abraham wasn’t very protective of Sarah’s purity. And don’t even get me started on Solomon.

With this in mind, I was trying to figure out who was the most dedicated to doing the Will of God all the time?

I can’t think of any thing Joshua did in the Bible that could be considered sinful.

Joseph was another hero of mine, but I’m not sure if he crossed the line with the way he messed with his brothers’ minds.

What are your thoughts?

Easy - Enoch and Elijah, since God loved them enough to assume them body and soul into heaven.

Of his day… I would say Job… based on this verse:

Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? **There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” **Job 1:8

Yes, but Elijah ran away when threatened by Jezebel. He should have trusted that God would protect him. Right?

I know this looks like I’m being judgmental, I’m not trying to be. This is just for discussion’s sake.

Well, you may be right. I never thought about Job.

Duh…

I agree I say Job:thumbsup: Look what he went through and he still was faithful to God.😃

Thanks! The same could be said for Joshua. And how many people did he lead into the promised land?
I havent really studied Joshua enough to know about him. But I’ll take your word for it:thumbsup:

Joshua and Caleb were the only two people of their generation who entered the promised land. All the other adults who left Egypt died during the forty years in the desert because of their disobedience.

But Joshua still led the entire nation of Israel into the promised land. They just weren’t of his generation.

The Torah answers this question for the lucky few who actually read it through the end:

Sine then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt- to Pharoah and to all his officials nad to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the might power or perfromed teh awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

Yes, I knew that. Joshua was eighty years old when he led the people into the promised land.

Elisha was a rather notable prophet and a favorite of mine.

I always thought Job tried too hard 🙂

It would be difficult to not suggest Moses or Elijah though.

There are a couple ‘flawless’ major characters in the Old Testament. Daniel is one; I can’t think of a single instance in which he went against God’s will.

The other, odd as it may seem, is Gideon. Sure, he questioned God, but he obeyed nonetheless – wondering why you’re getting sent on an apparently suicidal mission and whether there’s a better way to do this is no flaw.

But didn’t Gideon pave the way for idolatry in his tribe?

But God had to punish Moses for dis-obedience (or at least a lack of trust in God’s Words).

Of course, one could say the 40 years spent in the desert with a bunch of murmuring complainers would have made a strong Penance! 🙂

This is true. So I have to conclude that if Moses was the greatest, then the others must have committed greater sins, even if they are not set forth in the scripture.

Daniel has my vote. You can’t find a single negative thing said by him or about him.
