So who was your confirmation Saint? And how have they helped you in your life’s journey?

My confirmation Saint was Saint Anthony, which later turned out to be very cool because Saint Francis of Assisi regarded Saint Anthony as a his official theologian… you see, Francis is my middle name from birth, although I had no knowledge of Saint Anthony being Franciscan or schooled at all… I just liked the name Tony… 🙂 It was not long after I took Saint Anthony as my confirmation Saint that I began doing a lot better in school…

I guess I ask because I’ve studied a lot of vows, prayers, charisms and promises over my life to various Saints, and sometimes the prayers are so wonderfully answered… In all my prayers, though, I’ve always said the best Blessings come from the Blessed Mother - perhaps because She is so close to Jesus Himself… But they also all seem to work together in some wonderful confluence of grace…

Saint Mark.
The town Priest my parents loved was named Mark.
He even was part of my first communion ceremony -
It was a private affair at my parents house -
The photos, today, make me smile…

Father Mark is at a home for retired Priests now.
From what I hear, it was tough to get him in.
Long list. Etc.

Mine is St Peter. Patrick, Michael, Peter, can’t get much more Irish Catholic than that lol

Saint Cecilia!
I chose her because of my love for music…and I happen to be a choral student. 🙂

We were never taught about confirmation saint in my place, so I don’t have one.

Uhhh, what?

The Bishop is supposed to say your Confirmation name then seal you with the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Whoever prepared you for Confirmation failed in a major way if they never had you choose a Confirmation saint.

St. John the Baptist, master of eloquently delivering good news:

15 As the people were in expectation, and all men questioned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he were the Christ, 16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into his granary, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” 18 So, with many other exhortations, he preached good news to the people.

Xavier. Came in handy in Jesuit prep school and Jesuit university!

The only hing that was taught to us were the gifts of the holy spirit and its symbol and why we get confirmed. I wish I had a confirmation name then I would have like 3 first names if I had. If I ever had a confirmation saint I would choose saint John Vianney though I admire his humility and love to the souls he governed when he was alive.

It’s a pious custom, not a requirement. You’re ok, even if you would like to have had one. You’re still free to choose a saint (or more) to align yourself devotionally with…

I chose John Paul, even though he wasn’t canonized until the week after I was received into the Church.
