Not really a Catholic answer but if have noticed there are actually two creation stories in Genesis so some have claimed that there were humans created before Adam and Eve, they are called pre-Adamites, Cain could have married one of them.

Lilith is Jewish mythology, some believed to be taken from Pagan Greek sources, the bible does not mention Lilith at all. The Jews of the bible believed ALL man descended from Adam and Eve, the book of Tobit teaches this. Polygenesis in the Catholic Church is heretical, part because it would cause problems with original sin, since it with polygenesis it could be the case there are people without original sin. Yes incest in certain cases was allowed before the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai, maybe sooner. Even Abraham seems to have married his half sister. Creepy? Yes. True? Yes.

It has always been my understanding that Adam is representative of the first men, collectively, and Eve is representative of the first women, collectively.
This is the heresy of Polygenism, which was condemned by Pope Pius X in the early part of the 20th century.

As Catholics, we are required to believe that Adam was one man, and Eve was one woman, and that Adam and Eve are the ancestors of every human being who has ever lived.

For what it’s worth, Sarah was Abraham’s half-sister (they shared the same father, but had different mothers).

There are two creation accounts in complete harmony with each other. There is word for the teaching that there were others created besides Adam and Eve: heresy.

The Cain’s line wouldn’t be totally descended from Adam and Eve.

Not really. If you compare the two you see that many things are created in a different order. The first creation story could be taken as the making of the heavens and earth and the second as a special creation of Adam, Eve and the garden of Eden.

The man and woman of Genesis 1:26-27 are Adam and Eve.

Well many who promote this are part of the Christian Identity movement. They claim that Cain was the offspring of Satan and Eve, that was what the first sin was about. They think the Jews are the children of Satan and the descendents of Cain.

Chapter 2 is an expanded account of 1:26-27.

You take apart my questions, and answer with yes and no, but you do not even bother to state what you base this on. It seems one could do this to anything and come up with anything they wanted.
What would you like clarification on?

Yes - man is far inferior to our first parents.

Clearly if one knowingly states and believes something different from what the Catholic Church believes and teaches they are a heretic.

You are mistaken - the Church didn’t put anyone to death. The officials of the local governments did.
So through the course of time man has moved further and further inferior??

So the one true church has led man down further and further to inferiority??

Just because someone does not believe what you believe is a heretic?? It must be nice to know everything.

Two groups working together to kill someone and only one group kills, it still makes the other group a killer. Perhaps you need to read more instead of listening to everything your church tells you.

I’ve never heard that before, interesting. Do you know anywhere it’s claimed? All scholars I am aware of consider the two different creation stories as being two distinct accounts (i.e. separate origins).

Asked and answered.

Adam and Eve were first parents. Lilith did not exist.

Adam and Eve had a number of children beyond Cain and Able. Incest was permitted in the lateral line between brother an d sister but not between Adam and Eve and their offspring.
Where does it say in the Bible that Adam and Eve had more children??

Where does it say incest was permitted??

Understanding Adam and Eve to be representative is not in and of itself polygenism. If one holds that and excludes other necessary considerations, then it could be what Pius XII condemned. It was Pius XII in Humani Generis who referred to polygenism in 1950 (see para 37) vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xii/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xii_enc_12081950_humani-generis_en.html

THe first account is told about creation and its sequence. The second account is complementary and tells of mans importance.

The true church has nothing to do with mans inferiority. As time goes on corruption takes its toll. Genetics, mutations, disease etc are not strengthening mankind,.

Look up the def of heresy. It means to cleave away. If you knowingly dispute the clear teachings and dogmas of the church you are a heretic. Sadly protestors(Protestants) fall into this category. We hope to have you back.

Complementary, ok. Simply an expanded version of two verses I wasn’t sure of.

The second account of course includes a sequence too, which differs somewhat from the sequence in the first.

Where does it say in the Bible that Adam and Eve had more children?
In Genesis 5:4: “The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years; and he had other sons and daughters.”

The Church expressly teaches against polygenism, that humanity has more than one set of original parents:
When, however, there is question of another conjectural opinion, namely polygenism, the children of the Church by no means enjoy such liberty. For the faithful cannot embrace that opinion which maintains that either after Adam there existed on this earth true men who did not take their origin through natural generation from him as from the first parent of all, or that Adam represents a certain number of first parents. Now it is in no way apparent how such an opinion can be reconciled with that which the sources of revealed truth and the documents of the Teaching Authority of the Church propose with regard to original sin, which proceeds from a sin actually committed by an individual Adam and which, through generation, is passed on to all and is in everyone as his own. (Humani Generis 37)

“You made Adam and you gave him his wife Eve to be his help and support; and** from these two the human race descended**.”—Tobit 8:6

The bible says God created Adam from the earth, and made Eve from Adam, no others mentioned as being created like that, Once again if some others were physically directly created by God they would have no original sin, there would be many many more “immaculate conceptions” or sorts.

Both the predominate Jewish Tradition, and the unanimous Christian tradition is that Cain and Seth married their sisters. This was only permitted in ancient ancient times.

I’ve never heard that tradition, but thanks for sharing. I think the relevant point is that the Bible does not teach anything specifically regarding these speculations.
