Who were the strange people at Mass?

First off, I am not judging people in any way, but I want to ask this question because I have never seen this during a Mass ever. Yesterday at Mass a group of people remained kneeling throughout the liturgy of the Eucharist during the Mass. Meaning they did not get up for “Our Father” or to extend their hand to others in peace. I do not even think they got up to receive the Eucharist. They remained kneeling until the very end of Mass. Also during the Gospel and homily they were seated but had their eyes closed, as not be be distracted by anything I assume. Again, I am not judging, but I have never seen any Catholics I know do this. Any suggestions as to what kind of Catholicism these people are practicing?
 
I don’t know. Perhaps you could have asked them after Mass. If you did so politely and respectfully, while welcoming them to the parish and asking them about themselves, your curiosity could have been satisfied while extending hospitality to them.
