Who do you think the anti-christ be. Will he be a president, an anti-pope, a political system, etc.
 
The anti-christ will be the 6th poster of the 6th post on the 6th page! Yeah? Yeah. 🍿
 
The anti-christ will be a radical college professor.
 
Forget about looking for the Antichrist.

Who is the liar? Whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Whoever denies the Father and the Son, this is the antichrist. (1 John 3:22)

The antichrist has already come, and is here now.

When we sin, we all are.

Christ never sinned so when we sin, we are the opposite from him.

Honestly, it makes less sense to poke around at shadows when all wee really need to do is love God and love eachother.

Go in peace and sin no more.
 
The Church Fathers seem to believe he will be European and at least part Jew, probably decended from the tribe of Dan.

And if the anti-Christ comes, he will come regardless of whether he is a doctor, professor, lawyer, translator, politician, musician, or hobo.

That is not what Christ meant. We should be watchful for our own sake. We do not know when the end time is coming, and therefore prediction about what career he may be is useless. He could be something that does not even exist yet.

Antichrist as anti-christian sentiment carried out in the lives of modern ppl? Antichrist as a cultural idea?
 
I could just be like Mel Gibson, he thinks anyone that doesn’t like him is the “Antichrist”… or just a “Jew.”

Many don’t realize that the word “Antichrist” is not in the Book of Revelation. The word “antichrist” appears four times in the Bible, only in John’s first and second letters.

John is very clear on the Antichrist.

*Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour. (1 John 2:18)

…and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already. (1 John 4:3)

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. (2 John 1:7)*

John couldn’t be clearer and we can understand three things from what John writes:
  • There are many Antichrists
  • The Antichrists are men who deny that God became man in the form of Jesus Christ
  • The Antichrists are already in the world at the time he was writing.
The word “Antichrist” is not in the book of Revelation but in chapter 13 however, the author does speak of a “second beast” which many believe to be symbolic of the Antichrist(s) which John described in his letters. All of the events in Revelation 13 can be traced to past events, consistent with the idea that the Antichrist(s) is/are already in the world at the time John wrote. For example, “Worship the Beast” is Emperor Worship, “Wounded by the sword and revived” is a reference to the fact that Nero comitted suicide by stabbing himself in the throat and the popular legend at the time that he would rise up from the dead.

Much of the apocalyptic imagery used in revelation are simply references back to the Book of Daniel. Revelation is incomprehensible without knowledge of the Book of Daniel. Daniel was a prophet who prophecied the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome in 70AD.

I believe it all adds up to Roman persecution of the Church and that the beast is symbolic of Nero who personfies the Roman Emperors (“many antichrists”) who claimed to be Gods themselves and visciously persecuted the Church in denial of Jesus as God.

One thing is absolutely clear to me. John states that the Antichrist is already in the world at the time he writes. This rules out a radical college professor from Berkely, the 6th poster in this thread (good thing kmuestwin!), rules out Ronald Reagan, and rules out Barak Obama.

It also rules out my Mother-in-Law, which I already knew without reading the Bible. My Mother-in-Law is one of the sweetest women I have ever known and is married to a deacon. 😃

Considering how wrong everyone was about who the Christ would be (certainly not a Jewish carpenter’s son from some backwater province), it is likely everyone is wrong about who, what, or whosoever the anti-Christ will be. Cling to the cross, let the rest come as it will . . .
 
The Anti-Christ is not one being. It comes to us in different ways. It’s anything that is against Christ e.g. abortion, homosexual acts, homosexual marriage…the list goes on.

The Beast claims that physical might rules, and cannot grasp compassion and self sacrifice. The Beast scoffs at those physically weaker than he, and loathes and fears those who are physically stronger. His single goal is to emerge supreme and absolute at the expense of his fellow beings. And the Christian faithful the Beast hates because we do not recognize the beast as legitimate, and we give up our lives because we believe in an eternity that he cannot bring himself to comprehend. The Beast only understands the physical world.
