We are called to show “love” to human beings, not to organizations or movements.

So, not to split hairs, do you dare to love ISIS members (every single member of both the rank and file)?
 
Who says we don’t love these people?

Condemnation of their brutality is not a show of hate.

Wanting to protect your country but carefully selecting who is/is not allowed to enter is not a declaration of hate.

Jesus may have loved Mary Magdalene, but he certainly wouldn’t have been “tolerant” of her continuing to prostitute herself.

Point well taken. Or of any sinner who didn’t reform. But what is the limit of God’s tolerance? Does he forgive seven times? Or seventy times seven times?

On a technical matter, it’s not certain that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute.

Bingo.

The Dominicans converted an ISIS member to Christianity with love by looking after him after the ISIS member’s accomplices had abandoned him when he was injured.

Some time ago.

He forgives as many times as we come asking forgiveness with true repentance in our hearts.
On a technical matter, it’s not certain that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute.

The only reference to her that describes who she is is Luke 8:1-3, and all it says is that 7 demons were cast out of her.
 
While I struggle with loving them, I do pray wholeheartedly for their conversion. That they see the truth of Jesus and stop persecuting Christians.

IIRC, her link to prostitution was based on an interpretation of a homily given by a Pope in the 1300s or 1400s. I think it’s debatable whether or not the Pope who gave the homily meant to cast her as a prostitute.

Hi. I don’t know whether they were Dominican friars but were of the Dominican spiritual life in some regard: worldnewsdailyreport.com/isis-fighter-converts-to-christianity-after-allah-refuses-him-entrance-to-gates-of-heaven/

Please bear in mind that I haven’t checked this website out to see if it is an okay source but the report on here will do because I have heard this news before but just can’t remember what trusty resource I initially found it in.

Isn’t that love? To love is to will the good of another for their own sake and not our own. To pray for the conversion and that they stop persecution is the type of love that they need. This is not to say that the innocent victims shouldn’t be defended because to cease to do so would not be loving of us.

Well sure it’s love, but it’s not like they make it easy. I think of St. Maximilian Kolbe or St. Maria Goretti and how would they react. Not for a second do I think that they weren’t scared in those final moments but they kept their faith nonetheless.

And Yes we should defend the innocent, no doubt about it.
 
There is an excellent open letter to the caliph who is head of ISIS here, published on First Things.
It expresses fierce anger and yet concern for the reader’s soul: a great example of Christian love.

I do not have affection or squishy feelings toward ISIS. I have nothing but revulsion towards their actions and deeds.

I am also well aware that they are humans and pray for the grace for them to repent and abandon the path they are on. I would like to see them in heaven.
 
As Christians, we aren’t called to have “squishy” feelings or even affection towards our enemies. You can love them by praying for them, which is a lot harder than wishing them all sorts of evil things happening to them.
