Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am expecting the JW’s to come back tomorrow. I know they think the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon. How do I best expalin the Catholic position on this?

parmedicgirl - just a tip on terminology; JWs do not say that the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon (“Babylon the Great” of Revelation ch. 17 and 18). That’s because they say that Babylon the Great is made up of *all *“false religion” (read that to mean any religion other than theirs). Consistent with that, they would say that the Catholic Church is *part of *Babylon the Great.

The standard definition that they give for Babylon the Great is “the worldwide empire of false religion” (using language that erroneously suggests that all religion other than theirs are somehow in cahoots with each other).

So if all false religion makes up the whore of babylon, then all protestanatism would be part of the whore of babylon. I don’t remeber Christ establishing the lutheran Chruch. He never said, “You are Luther and upon this disgruntled, scrupulous, and schizophrenic munk I build my Church.” LOL
 
Thanks for everyone’s (name removed by moderator)ut. The JW’s did not show up today, so I have more time to prepare. Unless of course I scared them off last week.

My ex JW (now Catholic) sister told me the only way they would not come back was if they thought I was in cahoots with the devil!
