Who's Your Patron Saint?

So who’s your patron Saint? Many people have Saints with whom they feel an affinity, and I’m curious to see what Saints people feel close to.
 
I have several, St. Catherine of Sienna, Baptisim; Mary, Confirmation; and St. Matthew, profession.
 
Same here. Our Lady of course (especially under her title Mother of Perpetual Help), St Helen (my confirmation saint), St Francis of Assisi (I’m a secular Franciscan in traning) and St Joseph (just because … :cool: )
 
Like pippin I have several, too: Our Lady (goes without saying), Sts. Bernadette, Catherine Laboure, Therese of Lisieux, Angelus of Rome, Dymphna and Philomena, and Michael the Archangel. Each is special to me and has helped me in various areas of my life, as they continue to do, thanks be to God.
 
I have the honor of sharing my birthday September 8th with Our Blessed Mother. My first name is Hers Maria.
So yes I feel very close to Our Blessed mother. I also pray a lot to St. Anthony of Padua.
 
For my confirmation at the Easter Vigil I’m taking the name John for the beloved Apostle, who I’ve adopted as a patron. He was very close to Jesus and was with him to the very end. I’d like to emulate him.

Another saint that I consider a patron is Saint Benjamin (of course). He was a deacon ordered by the royal officials not to speak of Christianity, but he did anyway and was martyred for it. I tend to be mouthy so it works out… 😃

Of course there are others… Monica, Augustine, Pio, John the Baptist… and Mary, Mother of All Christians.
 
Saint Jane Frances de Chantal. I’m going to use Jane as my confirmation name, as well. 🙂
 
St. Joseph, St. Michael, and St. Benedict. I also bought a little statue of St. Padre Pio, just because he looked so friendly, so I pray to him occasionally, and St. Christopher, especially on long trips.
 
St. Paul, the Apostle (Baptism),
St. Vincent de Paul (Confirmation),
St. Gerard Majella,
St. Francis of Assisi & St. Anthony of Padua,
St. Joseph of Cupertino (When I was in school, esp during exam),
St. Francis de Sales (patron saint for Journalist) & St. Francis Xavier, I look up to both when I do ‘difficult’ evangelisation.

I think that’s all.
 
Saint Augustine - I have a deep appreciation of the process of spiritual developement he went through. Much of his Confessions reads like a book on my life, before I met my fiancee :rolleyes:

Saint Christopher - As someone who only spent 2 months at home since 2004 the travelling saint has a special place for me. His intercession has helped keep me safe through many dangers. I am also named for him.

Saint Francis of Asissi - I’ve always felt drawn to him, I always have a very deep peaceful feeling when I pass a sanctuary or birdbath or anything dedicated to him. Even when I was a fallen away Catholic.

Our Blessed Mother of course - I know she is always looking over me.
 
Saint Teresa of Avila. I read & re-read her, and I read about her. I “chat” with her a lot…not just formal prayers, you know; more like the way you might talk to a:o family member…
Its funny, I have “grown into her” over my lifetime. I can’t even remember how I first got interested in reading about her, but once I did, I found her absolutely irresistible.
She was brilliant, she was funny, she was wise & witty, all in addition to being a great holy woman of God.
What’s not to love???🙂
 
I don’t have a patron saint, but have certainly turned to a variety of them through the years.

When my dad was dying of cancer, I leaned on St. Peregrine.

Each time a daughter is pregnant, I turn to St. Gerard.

Recently, as my twin baby granddaughters have dealt with eye problems, I have prayed nightly to St. Lucy.

I’m Irish, so SS. Patrick, Brendan and Bridgid of Erin hear from me.

St. Francis is always a special friend.

My birthday is the feast day of St. Theresa of Avila.

SS. Peter and Paul were the patrons of one of my favorite parishes, so I have looked to them for help through the years. Especially Peter, because I think we have similar temperments.

The years of being a housewife made me appreciate St. Martha, too – sometimes I think that if I were her and had heard one more time how much holier sister Mary was, I would have let Jesus and his friends make their own dinner one day! 😃

St. Michael the Archangel gives me great strength.

And I keep in touch with John Paul the Great and Mother Theresa – 'cause it’s only a matter of time. 😉
 
My Patron Saints are the ones I was called after:
St. Catherine of Siena
St. Margaret of Cortona
St. Florence.
I also love to pray to St. Anthony - he never lets you down!!
 
Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque, for to her was bestowed the Twelve Promises of Sacred Heart and from her the lesson of perserverence is learned!

How beautiful, if you do not mind me asking why have you chose St. Paul of Tarsus and St. Thomas of Aquinas as your Patron Saints?

Certainly. I chose Paul because his life spoke to me the most: he was a horrible sinner who repented one day when God slapped him and said “hey, what are you doing?” and then became an incredibly pious Catholic who converted more people than anyone else in history with his intelligence.

Aquinas because I’m into philosophy and learning new things, and the sins I struggle with the most are faithlessness (whom he attacked in Summa Theologica in the form of the five proofs) and lustfulness.
