Whose your favorite saint could you tell us something about them

Would you please take a moment, let us know who your favoriite Saint is and tell us something about them. My favorite Saint is John Paul II I choose him for what he stood for, and the Peace of Jesus he always bestowed on us. One more thing His great devotion to the Blessed Mother.
 
St. Pio for his many miracles. One in particular that he worked for me.
ONe can ask to be his Spiritual Child, which I think is cool as well.
 
St. John. Founder of the Beatles and believer in Peace and Love.
 
Saint Gemma Galgani and St. Padre Pio are probably at a tie. I love Gemma’s humility and love of suffering. She often would have her guardian angel send letters for her.
 
I have many, but right now, I am being drawn especially to St. Joseph. I am not sure why yet, but I am attracted to his silence, his great humility and obedience to God. He never speaks in the Gospels; yet, after Our Lady, he is regarded as the greatest of saints by many in the Church.
 
I have a few, St Hermoine is the first Nun and daughter of one of the Disciples.
 
My favorite isn’t a saint yet and I can’t figure out why it’s taking so long. Blessed Miguel Pro, the Jesuit who went around in disguise saying Mass in Mexico during the Catholic persecutions there in the early 20th century, was finally executed on false charges, and the photos of him being shot in crucifixion position called the world’s attention to the oppression going on in Mexico. When I was abut 12 my mother made me go to Adoration with her and someone had left a children’s book on Father Pro called “God’s Secret Agent” there, all about his adventures and how many times he eluded authorities before he was finally caught. I spent the whole time reading the book. He really should be a saint by now.
 
I have several that have touched my life thru the years diversely & spiritually:
~St. Francis of Assisi- Instrument of Thy Peace prayer, Franciscan lifestyle I value (esp w/ religious orders)
~St. Catherine Laboure- related to the Miraculous Medal devotion
~St. Therese de Lisieux- young Saint of “the little way” (from Story of a Soul biography)
~St. Ignatius of Loyola- knight that eventually devoted to Mary & the narrow pathway to Sainthood. He also wrote about The Discernment of Spirits- one of my fav books from him and those teachings are so helpful & relevant still today
~St. Teresa of Calcutta- my middle name is named after her b/c my mom admired Mother Teresa & knew she’d one day become a Saint. Her mission work continues to inspire me to step outside myself & help those in need wherever God sends me. Currently I’m reading ‘Loving Jesus’ by Mother Teresa book- simply & concise to read yet captivating at the same time.
~St. Dominic Savio- young Saint who was taught by St. John Bosco at a boy’s school- he defended the faith by being a virtuously living example to the other boys that did bad stuff- he inspired some of the other boys to devote themselves to Christ deeper. He became sick & died, but his legacy remains and hopefully continued to inspire those other young boys to be better people. I admire learning about young Saints who were very young & yet had the desire to please God no matter what- something that any of us can strive to do within our own lives, selflessly.
~St. Augustine of Hippo- lived a very sinful life for years while his mom (St. Monica) prayed daily for him to convert to Catholicism deeper & devout his life to God. He tested the faith several times, until he eventually understood what he was doing & the reality of the Catholic faith and God- he went back to the Catholic faith, became a priest (I think- according to the movie of Restless Heart), & is well-known within the Catholic Church, in regards to Saints.

And I still wonder sometimes why I am drawn to the cloistered nun life, especially since most of my fav female Saints lived cloistered lives in silence and within a Carmelite or other type of Rule within a religious community. Friends of my family have older children who are nuns & religious sisters that do inspire me in some ways. With gradual time, I am willing to explore this phenomenon one way or another.

St. Benedict of Nurcia, from the 5th century. Most of what we know of his life comes from writings of Pope St. Gregory the Great, but his lasting legacy is his Holy Rule for monastics. There is great wisdom in this document; a structure and organization tempered with a loving concern for the wellbeing of all members, which can serve as a guide not only for those in religious life, but for lay people, families, and business organizations as well. It has been said that the work and stability of the Benedictines helped to preserve Western Civilization through several dark periods of history, and St. Benedict was named a patron saint of all Europe by Pope Paul VI.
 
I have not heard of Blessed Pro.thank you for letting us know about him. Could you let me know when he was declared Blessed? Maybe there is a way we can find out what is going on with the inquiry about declaring him a Saint. I will try to find out all the information on him that I can.{books etc.) also talk to my priest and ask him where to start the process of finding out the “status” of Sainthood God Bless.
 
He was beatified by Pope JPII in 1988. I realize in terms of canonization timelines, that’s relatively recent. I just keep reading about how the Popes now fast-track martyr canonizations, and it’s been established that Fr. Pro was definitely killed in hatred of his faith.
 
Honestly, I don’t have a favorite saint. I love all the saints. However, my patron saint is St. Hubertus. I picked him as I love the forest, and I love contemplating the Lord’s creation there. I also want to try hunting sometime.
