This may seem like an easy answer to this question but what I mean is when I wake up on a day that I am going to fast I am so hungry but any other day I will wake up with the same empty stomach but I won’t feel so hungry.

Can I psychologically make myself hungrier without realising or something?

Thanks.

Maybe this is the mind’s way of helping you to empathize with those that are hungry all the time?

This happens to me as well, and I think it is because fasting becomes the foremost thing on my mind, and consequently, I notice my hunger.

There have been plenty of times when I have gotten so wrapped up in my work, I lose all track of time and forget to eat. But I do not feel extra hungry because I’m thinking about my work, and not about food or fasting.

Is this not like that phrase “don’t think of a pink elephant!” … which is nearly impossible NOT to think of a pink elephant when told not to. 🙂
Code:
In the same sense, knowing that you are planning to fast can set your thoughts on fasting, which makes you think of food. If you think of food and eating and all that you are giving up, then there is that natural force behind it, desiring it, because you are thinking about it.
Instead of focusing on not having food, or on the fact you want to fast, think of doing work for God and those things you give up as a gift of love offered up to God.

It could also be sugar lows too… not trying to give medical advice, but you do have to watch out for that too. There are ways of eating you can change so that you aren’t having cravings, or at least as strong cravings. If you ate a lot of sweet or foods with high carbohydrates the day before, you could be having sugar lows.

Anyway, hope this helps, if anything.

Struggling with the body is arguably the point of fasting.

Yes you can Psychologically make yourself hungry , it’s a mind game thing,
We can’t all do it,
An example would be this, years ago when it was my week for night shift,
I trained my mind to feel sleepy during the day, telling myself I must sleep,
At midday I went to bed in a dark room and fell asleep soon,
Not everyone can do that,it’s the power of the mind, your mind is thinking about fasting,
So it’s telling you to fill up because your not going to eat for a while,
Could you pick a random day to fast ?
The mind is an incredible thing,

Personally, I found I had a yeast overgrowth. Once that was taken care of I don’t mind fasting so much at all.

I’ve given up so many things in the name of good health that fasting is almost easy. I rarely eat meat, I’ve given up grains. The only sugar I consume is is my quarter ounce dark chocolate and single serving of red wine once a week. However that is not set in stone since it is difficult for me to turn down lemon cake as a treat. Mainly, I eat fruit, veg nuts, legumes, grass-fed, free-range dairy. Small portions fill me up. I can eat an apple for breakfast, a pear for lunch and a small salad for dinner. Sometimes that apple becomes a scrambled egg or the pear is paired with cheese or yogurt.

That is my experience. I’m not looking to convert anyone to my eating style. I just thought I’d toss the yeast thing out there as a possibility.

Peace,
B
