Except for the issue of invalid Apostolic Succession, aren’t Anglicans who swim the Tiber in large groups (like whole parishes and bishops) no different from Orthodox factions that return to Rome? Easterners didn’t have their own Rites introduced within the Latin Church but got their own Eastern Catholic Churches instead. Why isn’t it the same with the Anglicans who become Catholics? How come there just isn’t a new Western Catholic Church created for them instead of having them integrated with the Latin Church?
Is this a possibility for the future? If not, why not?
It’s interested to see why and how the Church diffrentiates cases like this. If the Anglicans retained Apostolic Succession, would we think of them as more akin to the Orthodox than the protestants?
