I posted a similar question recently but cannot find the answer.
Meanwhile the following:-
I have read Peter Kreeft (‘Making Sense out of Suffering’), C.S. Lewis ‘The Problem of Pain’), Rabbi Kushner and others. And I have searched the internet. I understand that suffering is not imposed as a result of sin, as is made clear in the gospels. I also believe that there are character building facets in adversity. If children suffer pain from touching a hot plate they will learn.
However I have always been worried about the suffering of innocent small children (babies). I have wrestled with the problem for some time.
Now it has suddenly occurred to me. God does not owe me an explanation. He is not responsible to me. I am responsible to him. Perhaps some time in the future I will understand.
