I believe the Emotional or Inward belief or transformation is linked to this verse on many occasions:
Douay-Rheims Bible
For if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him up from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For, with the heart, we believe unto justice; but, with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith: Whosoever believeth in him, shall not be confounded. For there is no distinction of the Jew and the Greek: for the same is Lord over all, rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord,** shall be saved.**
How then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without one who preaches? And how shall they preach unless they be sent, as it is written: How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, of them that bring glad tidings of good things! But all do not obey the gospel. For Isaias saith: Lord, who hath believed our report? So faith then is by a report, but the report by God’s word.
JL: What you call emotional inward belief or transformation, Act2:37 calls being pricked, pierced or cut to the heart. After HEARING THE WORD and being pierced to the heart those people wanted to know what they should do. Peter didn’t say, since you believe in your heart, all you need to do is confess with your mouth, that’s it. No, Peter said REPENT, BE BAPTIZED,
FOR REMISSION OF SINS, RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
[MK16:16 He that BELIEVETH and is BAPTIZED shall be SAVED but he that believeth not shall be damned.]
[Acts2:37 Now WHEN THEY HEARD this, **THEY WERE PRICKED IN THEIR HEART, AND SAID unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
WHAT SHALL WE DO? 38 Then PETER SAID unto them,
REPENT, and
BE BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, and ye shall
RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. THE PROMISE IS UNTO YOU, AND TO YOUR CHILDREN
I have been Catholic for thirty some years, but I too was born again as an adult, baptized at age 27, 2am, March 3rd in a river, with snow flurries coming down. At baptism I was born again or from above by water and of the Spirit, as our Lord tells is in Jn3:5. At baptism I received remission of sins and the indwelling Holy Spirit. [Titus:3:5 NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, **BUT according to HIS MERCY HE
SAVED US,
BY the
WASHING OF
REGENERATION, and
RENEWING OF THE HOLY GHOST; 6 Which he SHED ON US abundantly THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOUR;]
In baptism I was, 1Cor6:11 And such were some of you: but YE ARE
WASHED, but ye are
SANCTIFIED, but ye are
JUSTIFIED in the NAME of the Lord JESUS, AND by the SPIRIT OF OUR GOD.]
In baptism my old man was crucified with Christ, and raised in newness of life, [Rms 6:3 KNOW YE NOT, THAT so many of us as were BAPTIZED INTO JESUS CHRIST were BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH? 4 Therefore we are BURIED WITH HIM BY BAPTISM INTO DEATH: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so WE ALSO SHOULD WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE. 5 For if we have been PLANTED TOGETHER IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS DEATH, we shall be ALSO IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS RESURRECTION: 6 Knowing this, that OUR OLD MAN IS CRUCIFIED WITH HIM, that the body of sin might be destroyed, THAT henceforth WE SHOULD NOT SERVE SIN.]
In baptism I am complete in Christ, I am circumcised, forgiven all trespasses, [Col2:10 And YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 IN WHOM also YE ARE CIRCUMCISED with the CIRCUMCISION MADE WITHOUT HANDS, in PUTTING OFF THE BODY OF THE SINS OF THE FLESH by the CIRCUMCISION OF CHRIST 12 BURIED WITH HIM **IN BAPTISM, wherein also ye are RISEN WITH HIM THROUGH the FAITH of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having FORGIVEN YOU ALL TRESPASSES.]
Eph 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT, even as ye are called in ONE HOPE of your calling; 5 ONE LORD, ONE FAITH,
ONE BAPTISM, 6 ONE GOD and Father of all, who is ABOVE ALL, and THROUGH ALL, and
IN YOU ALL. It is though baptism God indwell his people. [Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and BE BAPTIZED, and WASH AWAY THY SINS, calling on the name of the Lord.]
Phil 3:3 For
WE ARE THE CIRCUMCISION, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
[1Jn 1:12 But AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM, to them GAVE HE POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD, even to them THAT BELIEVE on his name: 13 WHICH WERE BORN, NOT OF BLOOD, NOR of the will of THE FLESH, NOR of the WILL OF MAN, BUT OF GOD.] Those who receive Him, He gives the power to become sons of God through baptism.
[Gal 3:26 For YE ARE all the CHILDREN OF GOD by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For **AS MANY of you
AS HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED into Christ HAVE PUT ON CHRIST.] If we put on Christ then we are IN CHRIST and a NEW CREATURE.
2Cor5:17 Therefore IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATURE: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
