Why are homeless people homeless?

Without that help, you would have been stuck.

Therefore, telling others that they “just need to pull themselves up, have strength of character”, and all of the other nonsense out there is rendered logically void before you even finished the sentence.
I agree with this. Please keep in mind, too, that greed exists and it shuts people out of a lot of things in life. Folks have all they need and more and they can’t imagine a life of less or doing without basic needs. They might not even ever try.

I cleaned my last apt like the Dickens, oven sparkling, cupboards, and refrig, too, but my landlord kept the deposit. The place hadn’t been painted when I moved in and yet they charged me for a new paint job and now I’m without that money I paid in good faith. People do these things to others because they can. I can’t afford to take them to Small Claims, either. That is $25 filing fee, then $50-75 for a process server and Heaven help you if you lose; then you pay court costs, too. Landlords know this and work it in their favor. Not all, though. At least I got my 2 deposits back before that and God bless those honest people.

Sometimes when I see someone very poor and struggling, I wonder who gained from it. Who deprived or took so much away without even a backward glance? I know it does no good to think that, though. Just doesn’t help anything.
