Why are Mormons so happy?

One of the reasons that depression rates are so high among Mormons is because their standards of perfection are basically unattainable. You can’t go to the Mormon Celestial Kingdom unless you are perfect. Their scriptures say, “Keep my commandments continually, and a crown of righteousness thou shalt receive. And except thou do this, where I am you cannot come.” So, unless you keep God’s commandments “continually”, you’ll NEVER go to where God is. Continually does not allow for occasional sin.

They also teach that God’s grace does not apply until after you have perfected yourself, “ . . .and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you . . .”.

They also teach that, “ . . . it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” Ask a Mormon, any Mormon, if they have done ALL that they can do. Is there any commandment that they can’t keep? Not according to their fictitious prophet Nephi. Only perfection is doing all that you can do.

Anyway, the Mormon gospel is impossible to live by, which is why so many Mormons are, indeed, miserable. I know. I’ve interviewed enough of them.

The Trinity is three separate Persons, yes, but they are united in One God.

Learner1969 was correctly pointing out that the LDS church does not view God as a Trinity, which is why the Catholic church does not accept their baptisms as valid.

They believe that Jesus is literally God the Father’s and Mary’s son and is not equal to Him but subordinate, and that the Holy Spirit is separate from both.

Part of the doctrine of the Trinity is that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three separate persons.
Yes, but they are also one God, which the Mormons don’t believe
Not entirely true. We believe that they are one God in purpose and unity, but not in number.

Um, no. We worship ONE God, not three gods.
The Trinity is the term employed to signify the central doctrine of the Christian religion — the truth that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons , the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another.
But they are UNITED in the Godhead. We worship One God. Not three.

They believe that Jesus is literally God the Father’s and Mary’s son and is not equal to Him but inferior, and that the Holy Spirit is separate from both.
To clarify just a tad, LDS believe that Christ is subordinate to the Father, not inferior. You are correct about Him being the offspring of the Father and Mary, and that the Holy Spirit is separate from Both.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
253The Trinity is One. We do not confess three Gods, but one God in three persons, the “consubstantial Trinity”.83 The divine persons do not share the one divinity among themselves but each of them is God whole and entire: "The Father is that which the Son is, the Son that which the Father is, the Father and the Son that which the Holy Spirit is, i.e. by nature one God."84 In the words of the Fourth Lateran Council (1215), "Each of the persons is that supreme reality, viz., the divine substance, essence or nature."85

I have known a fair number that sure didn’t seem happy to me. Among other things, there is, at least among some, the idea that a husband determines a wife’s salvation. So he can cut her off from it if she doesn’t behave. Also, if you don’t do your tithing and other contributing, you can be tossed out of the church. They have auditors like the IRS who look at your financial records to determine if you’re tithing.

Finally, your position after this life depends on your success here on earth. Your success depends on things like number of descendants, money contributed to the church, and so on.

Now, those are complaints I heard from Mormons. I didn’t make them up or read them in some anti-Mormon book.

We Catholics study 2000 years of history from the New Testament … plus the Old Testament 4000 years or so.

We live with it.

All kinds of scandals and negativity, wars and heresies.

We take it all seriously.

Yes, thank you, that clarifies what I was trying to say.

It seems impossible to sum up the Trinity easily. It always needs a paragraph or two. 😉

You can twist words all you want. You’re not Trinitarian, and that’s the end of it. Not interested in any clever arguments Mormons might make trying to lure Christians, I see that all day in Mormon marketing materials and it’s the fakest thing ever. Go peddle your sunshine elsewhere.

You have every right to feel anxious and depressed. I pray something wonderful will happen to you very soon!❤️❤️❤️
