Hello, I am new here and I would like to say I think this forum is wonderful. I apoligise in advance if this was answered before. My question is this - Threre is Non-Demoninational Children’s Camp that is very popular around our area. Our Non-Catholic friends children have attended for years. My children wanted to attend based on all they heard about it. It is a sports camp that also has prayers in the morning, lunch, dinner, etc. with a bible study before bed. Children have to dress very conservatively, (one piece bathing suits, no short shorts, etc.) They are expected to be respectful at all times etc. My children attend Catholic school. When I told our Principal, who is a Sister of Charity, that I was sending them to this camp she was horrified and told me I shouldn’t. I read Father’s answer regarding this where he says that Catholic’s have no business going to a non-denominational bible study since they do not get their authority from the church. I can understand that. However, do you really think it is all that bad, when you consider all that children are exposed to today? Do you think my 9 and 14 year old can really differentiate the theological differences at this point in their lives to make it so bad? I do not know of a Catholic Summer Camp. Are there any out there? My daughter came home and told me she felt very close to God after the week. Do you think that our church does enough to excite the young children to get to know God better? Was it really wrong for me to send them there? Thank you in advance for your answer
