From a moral standpoint, is there a concrete explanation for homosexuality?
Nature. It exists in the animal kingdom, too. The condition is natural. The acts aren’t.From a moral standpoint, is there a concrete explanation for homosexuality?
I respectfully disagree. I believe it’s ontological (of one’s being). It is disordered, however. Essentially, I believe what the Catholic Church teaches about it – that it’s disordered, but not to be condemned, and surmountable, spiritually speaking, if one abstains from indulging its passions. Gays must remain celibate, if they want salvation. This is my personal opinion.
Homosexuality is a disorder; it is not normal and goes against the laws of nature. As such, I don’t believe that genetics play a role in human sexuality.
Homosexuality is a psychological disorder brought about by experiences in the formative years of childhood. I believe that homosexuals feel somewhat emasculated. During their adolescent years they looked up to other men as role models, and this may have brought about confused sexual feelings.
Many homosexuals lacked a strong male role model when growing up. They did not have a father figure to guide and teach them. I know homosexuals who were brought up in a feminine household with no male influences. I believe they are looking for the love and guidance they lacked during childhood; and consequently develop confused sexual desires for other men.
Another cause of homosexuality in some people is that they experienced rejection during childhood and adolescence, particularly by the opposite sex. A lot of teenagers who operate on the fringes of society feel rejected and lonely. They don’t have many friends and are often mistreated. In some instances, rejection by the oposite sex makes them feel unwanted and worthless. They subsequently avoid all interactions with the opposite sex. The only friends they have are male. They never experience acceptance by females and therefore develop sexual desires for the only people who show them affection - members of the same sex.
Some homosexuals felt rejected by other males during adolescence. Many homosexuals had no male friends when growing up. They only had girlfriends. Consequently, they started to look to males in a sexual manner. Maybe being surrounded by females causes them to lose all masculinity and develop a more female mindset. This could cause them to develop homosexual tendencies.
I believe that homosexuality could be treated by psychologists. They need help to resolve the issues that have caused the homosexual behaviour.
I refuse to believe a just and loving God would give people homosexual desires only to tell them that to act upon these desires is wrong. God wouldn’t create people in this way knowing the pain they will go through their entire lives as a result.I respectfully disagree. I believe it’s ontological (of one’s being). It is disordered, however. Essentially, I believe what the Catholic Church teaches about it – that it’s disordered, but not to be condemned, and surmountable, spiritually speaking, if one abstains from indulging its passions. Genesis 2:18
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
The correct way of life is for men and women to be together as one. It does not say that men should be together. This is not what God intended.Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.
There are absolutely zero genetic links. People are NOT born gay. That’s an excuse they use and as posters in other threads have said soon thieves, murderers etc will say they are born that way to justify what they are!!Well the Church doesn’t say that there is a clear cut explination. (Or at least one that I have found. I could be wrong). There are genetic links and environmental links. I personally believe it’s a combination of both. No one REALLY knows 100% what causes homosexuality. Well, God does, but we don’t.
Exactly right! Nobody is born a thief or a murderer or an adulterer. And nobody is born homosexual. There are absolutely zero genetic links. People are NOT born gay. That’s an excuse they use and as posters in other threads have said soon thieves, murderers etc will say they are born that way to justify what they are!!
I’m no expert, but I suspect Science is on the verge of proving homosexuality is biological. There are absolutely zero genetic links. People are NOT born gay. That’s an excuse they use and as posters in other threads have said soon thieves, murderers etc will say they are born that way to justify what they are!!
I believe it’s wrong of you to associate homosexuality with criminal behavior. You’re showing a distinct lack of charity here.Exactly right! Nobody is born a thief or a murderer or an adulterer. And nobody is born homosexual.
If you’re not an expert, how can you be aware of a scientific discovery that even the scientists are not aware of yet? Sounds like a lot of blind faith in science.I’m no expert, but I suspect Science is on the verge of proving homosexuality is biological.
Forgive me. I apologise if I have come across as judgemental and uncharitable. My intention was to show that no one is born with a predisposition towards any sinful behaviour, including homosexuality. Perhaps I should have chosen more similar sins as a comparison.I believe it’s wrong of you to associate homosexuality with criminal behavior. You’re showing a distinct lack of charity here.
Actually science is proving more and more that there is a biological link to homosexuality. There are absolutely zero genetic links. People are NOT born gay. That’s an excuse they use and as posters in other threads have said soon thieves, murderers etc will say they are born that way to justify what they are!!
How is his statement based on prejudice? However, until science proves it one way or another, you’re statement isn’t valid, but based on a prejudice.
True!Okay homosexuality is not in itself a sin. Homosexual behavior is. There is a difference. People can be born gay, however they are called to chasity just like anyone else. It’s a cross that they have to bear like anyone else. Straight people are called to chasity as well. Unmarried heterosexuals having sex is a sin, just like homosexual behavior is a sin!
But I say to the unmarried, and to the widows: It is good for them if they so continue, even as I. 9 But if they do not contain themselves, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to be burnt.Corinthians 1 Ch 7

I also feel heartly sorry for those who must bear this cross. However, God is with them and he will grant them peace. While upholding what The Church teaches, I feel compassion for homosexual people, since they can never marry. At least heterosexual people can. Homosexuality is a complex issue when one considers the human angle. They are called to lifelong Chastity whether they feel called to it or not.
