Why are people not seeing Cinderella Man?

After hearing about Hollywood’s last fighting movie (the Clint Eastwood one) I was not remotely interested in seeing their next attempt. Anyway, unless one really wants to see a movie desperately, it is very expensive, and the matinee is just a few dollars cheaper (total). Popcorn is totally out. Just the tickets, please.

Anyway, I’ve been sort of reluctant to go and deal with the commercials before the movie. Watching the dancing Pepsi chick at a movie for 10 year old girls really got me annoyed with the local theater. (you know the one, with the gentleman saying “down boy” to his “dog” at the end).

What does H.G. Wells (the war of the worlds) have to do with scientology? Is there scientology in the dialogue?

My wife and I went to see Cinderella Man this wekend and we loved the movie. A true story of a courageous man.

When it comes down to a contest between human courage and special effects- special effects will win every time.

I saw the original War of The Worlds and would not suffer through another crappy remake of a classic.

I find it very humerous that so few people are seeing this movie, that the theatres now have an ad in the paper saying you can get your money back if you don’t like it. Many in the media have blamed this all on Russell Crowe and his behavior, but I think it has more to do with Ron Howard making The Da Vinci Code into a movie. I will not see any more Ron Howard movies due to the da vinici code. Do you think this has to do with the cinderella man flop?
Make room for me on your bench! You hit the nail right on the head. 👍

It’s all about fame and fortune is why Ron Howard choose to direct DaVinci. He knows the book stirs alot of controversy and he just haaaaaaas to do it. I saw the trailer and at the end of it, it said, “Seek the truth” with ‘seek’ being emphasized in bold. I understand it to mean this is truth so see it and it’ll blow your mind about what you always believe about Christianity. I hope that movie bomb right in his face!

Do you know I absolutely ADORED this movie…I saw it last year with my Mom. She is 84 and she remembered listening to all the fights in the film on the radio when she was on the ranch in California … I had to finally say, “Ma! STOP!” because she kept teasing me going, 'I know who wins this one"…and I thought the acting was fabulous and I thought everything about the movie was wonderful and I have NO IDEA why this movie is not this year’s SEABISCUIT…

What is Cinderalla Man even about? It didn’t look that wonderful from the previews. Who knows, maybe I’ll see it…when it comes out on DVD.

Eamon
The fighter is an Irish Catholic from New Jersey who fought back from a devastating injury to reclaim the world heavyweight title…it is a FABULOUS MOVIE…GO SEE IT

We rented Cinderella Man a week ago and it was a wonderful movie! It gave a good account of what it was like during the depression etc. Showed a loving husband and father etc.

The newspapers of the time were calling him “Cinderella Man”, hence the name of the movie, they even laugh about it in the movie.

lol! you made my day. 😃 what’s a CINO?

and excuse me for not being afraid to try things that the Church isn’t keen on…

My town just grass roots refurbished a historically beutiful movie theater. Put in all of the modern technologies etc…it costs 5.00 for a movie ticket here.

someone mention 9 dollars for a movie? One of the countless millions of reasons I refuse to live anywhere but here. I prefer staying away from the real world.

most of the time i’ll wait till it’s came out on dvd, then i can rent it from netflix.

My husband and I just rented the DVD, and we LOVED the movie!!! Several people at the video store recommended it, also saying how wonderful it was. It was inspirational to say the least, that this man could pull himself up out of poverty like that and find a way to support his family. I can not believe this movie is considered a flop!!!

I saw it on the plane going out to Salt Lake City for skiing and thought it was quite good although I’m typically not a fan of boxing movies and wish the “sport” would just go away.

I didn’t see it because the previews didn’t look interesting . . . it seemed like a long, grim, boring movie.

This movie is a wonderful film. It is not just about boxing and people getting punched in the face. It is more about the man and his struggle through poverty in the depression. It is his struggle to take care of his family, keeping them all together even though times are tough. The love for the husband and wife, and the love that the parents show their children is a love we should all hope to have. This man “fought” with all of his strength to let his family know that they were his first priority and his greatest loves.

This was a wonderful film. I feel sorry for those of you who refuse to see it. I understand your reasons behind your decisions, but the overall story (which is true, by the way) is absolutely wonderful.

I don’t like Russel Crowe and I don’t like boxing, and I hate movies about boxing more than I hate boxing.
Ditto for me!

I think most areas have a $1 or $2 theater. Ours is in a decent part of town. If you don’t have to have perfection in the carpets, seats, etc. or 1st run movies then the $ problem is solved.

I liked Cinderella Man. My Grandfather was a boxer in the Navy, my uncle was a boxer, & I watched boxing w/ my Dad on T.V. & heard all the stories. I especially liked how the main character represented something bigger than himself just like Seabiscuit. He was a symbol of hope during a time which our country seems to have forgotten about. The personal human drama & the American drama were excellent reminders of what human beings & our nation are capable of doing.
