Being as our country is so deeply in debt to start with, I’m wondering where all the Federal aid funds required for this is going to come from.

Another big humanitarian loan from China?

Saudi Arabia should play its part in accepting refugees, as should other Arab nations. But that does not excuse us from also doing what we can and ought to do on their behalf.
I disagree. It is to dangerous. And besides we are not a Muslim nation. Let Muslim nations take in these Muslim refugees. Paris found out the hard way

So you would not take in refugees other than Christians, including Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and refugees of other religions and cultures since we are also not a Jewish, Hindu, or Buddhist nation either?

people are not afraid of Syrian refugees. people are afraid of the ISIS soldiers that are among those seeking entry to the usa claiming to be refugees.

it is fair, and deserving of an answer, to question how the feds and the bishops are going to determine whether or not the Syrian and other middle east muslims seeking admission are supporters of terrorism, including seeking to impose shariah law and other Islamic tenets on our communities or not supporters.

be open and transparent and reveal the system to be used to differentiate between muslims who want to make the usa more Islamic and those who do not. that would go along way toward calming everyone down.

I thought the topic was Syrian refugees. Not many buddhists or hindus there

People are coming here to escape the chaos and destruction of their lands…they come here for law and order, peace and welfare.

We have millions upon millions of Americans without jobs. There is some pact signed…so we have foreign born IT taking jobs at Microsoft, Cisco…and others…to replace those training them and bypassing our own American IT graduates.

What people do not seem to understand, is that they do not leave their problems and conflicts back in the old country. I am from Seattle and we had alot of problems with foreign born gangs…families who came here legally, but the point came out in the papers, that they brought their problems with them, many parents working several jobs to have a nice life, and thus the kids entering gangs to be with homey’s to take the place of missing parents.

Now we don’t have the jobs, and it is our civil infrastructure that maintains law and order that is being hit. Our president knows very well what he is doing and he is not bringing in those who have always been a presence of peace among others…the Middle East Christians.

Likewise, the drug cartels and the Templars do worse things to the Mexicans than ISIS. Horrific. So it is even more understandable why people are escaping.

I was raised as a white American to be self reliant. And my parents were not out scrutinizing where they could get more benefits to live off government. My family lived very simply.

And such a system kept things going.

Now we are in neighborhoods where people cannot talk about anything, so we are passive in seeing what is happening.

And if you say anything, the Neo Marxists accuse you of being racist and demonstrating white privilege when in fact it is psychological warfare to let in another kind of government.

I believe many who come want to maintain our way of life, but they are not realizing they are being used by pawns. And there is talk of getting the illegals to vote, many who cannot read…and we can suspect who they will vote for.

The other problem is the minaret.

There are those imams who want it blaring and could care less the impact its noise has on American citizens…the case in point is what is happening in Hamtrack, Michigan who could care less about the American neighbors. He needs to be confronted and yes, with his attitude, his forthcoming large mosque should be monitored, considering his attitude.

For the sake of peace, law and order, and even the US Bishops Statement going back a few years ago…the illegals need to go back to the bus and follow the law, and learn English.

The last thing I detest…I detest it at work, when foreign born people speak their own language in front of you, where you cannot concentrate on your job. There were some foreign born women who sued a hospital in Los Angeles, they came from the third largest English speaking country in the world, but insisted in speaking their own dialect in front of American medical workers, and claimed discrimination and won the lawsuit.

I read a person from the land of their origins tell us that in their country, with many dialects, and if they have community meeting, and some start speaking their own dialect in front of others – they are fined. He said those workers in America knew about fines in the old country.

In America these particulars with dialects won a lawsuit. It is a shame and I can only put such injustice and fraud before Almighty God.

What we are indeed seeing is a deliberate and willful destruction of law and order, civil unity…by forces outside our country working through the administration. We must stop being afraid of them and stand up together for our land.

The smallest religious minority groups fleeing Syria - historical most prone to being persecuted in the MIddle East…aside from the Jews of course.
And Christians of course. Before you try to make me look cold hearted may I remind you of Paris, France and who planned and carried it out.

Though I’m leaning towards a different candidate, this is why Trump is resonating so much right now.

Who is George Soros?

This is a man who has an experiential understanding of oppression, Fascism, and what it means to be a refugee. In my humble opinion, George Soros has “put his money where his mouth is” to promote freedom and justice throughout the world for years.
Soros has been the #1 enemy of children in the womb for decades. Soros has continually pumped his money into causes that violate the freedom and justice of women and children, people of faith, and all people in the world who are impacted negatively by Population Control measures.

Billionaire De-Populationist George Soros Donates $10 Million to Defeat Bush
New York, August 11, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - New York Billionaire George Soros has donated $10 millon to start Americans Coming Together (ACT). Thomas Hargrove reports in the Aug. 8 Scripps Howard News Service that the new organization’s purpose is to prevent George Bush’s re-election. Hargrove reports that ACT “expects to raise at least $75 million and employ hundreds of election organizers by November 2004.
One of Soros’s foundations, the Open Society Institute, has had a grant-making Program on Reproductive Health and Rights which it says is being phased out this year. The Internet section for this program provides, among other items, an unusually extensive list of links to national and international abortion advocacy organizations to which the Institute has made grants from 1997 to 2004.

And Christians of course.
Ermmm… going to have to disagree with you on at least the Yazidi front.

Since apparently - historically even your Christian sects “joined in on the fun” with the Muslims calling them devil worshippers. (I kid you not - take a look at some of ISIS issues of Dabiq - they cite you guys for their righteous destruction of the “Evil Yazidis” )

However, not being a Middle East specialist - I’ll gladly bow to a more knowledgeable source on this - Contarini around? Mamelukeman ?

Their main population has already been decimated in Iraq…and even though they have actively supported the US along with the Kurds since…Gulf War I

nowtheendbegins.com/obama-refuses-to-allow-yazidi-christians-fleeing-isis-to-enter-united-states/

…the US isn’t too keen on granting them asylum.
Before you try to make me look cold hearted may I remind you of Paris, France and who planned and carried it out.
Funny… you all remember Paris - which is of course a good thing - to show that you care…

And yet few of you seem to acknowledge what happened in Beirut.

Not that I should complain… few in the West remembered when Mumbai had to go through this in 2008 and again in 2011.
.
I guess we just live in that part of the world where you just expect things to blow up

:sigh:

I agree, though it seems to me there is lots we can do without actually accepting refugees on American soil.

Ready for the touchy question?

Should Israel accept Syrian Muslim refugees?

Thank you Jharek for your comments.

Although I do have to wonder, why does it seem that Syria and Lebanon contain so many small little sects/religions.

Were they all driven away from the other parts of the MIddle East? Or was it something about the region around Syria and Lebanon that made it conducive to having all these religions pop up around the place.

I get the impression from having read through some of the views of people on these forums that this “fear” is habitual bigotry and xenophobia masked as pragmatism. Many of these people are religious fundamentalists, who seem to project their own far-right perception that their religion is instrinsically tied up in their culture, and their culture in their race, onto immigrants, assuming that if they’re from a Islamic country, or are Muslims, the must similarly be devout and habitual Muslims. This, coupled with a general ignorance of Islam or the modern world, leads to fear.

I really am confused, why in America do super right-wing republicans get the Christian vote. Are you reading some lost Bible passage where Jesus preached nationalism, sectarianism, and libertarianism?

There is at least a partial cure for that. Learn a little German and have a friend do it too. Doesn’t matter what it is.

A banker friend of mine and I got tired of hearing immigrants do those conversations in their own language at transaction closings. First of all, it’s rude, but you also don’t know whether they really understood what you told them when they do that. So I told him I only know two sentences in German, from a poem. He is Lutheran and sometimes they sing hymns in German at his church. We decided the next time the foreign language language started, we would exchange a little German.

So, the next time it started, I turned to him and said in a knowing tone, and with a raised eyebrow: “Frisch weht der wind der heimat zu. Mein Irisch kind wo weilest du.” He responded with some part of a hymn in a very serious voice.

That ended it, cold.

Doesn’t have to be German. Could be Gaelic or Icelandic or something else few immigrants would understand. 🙂

The answer to your question concerning the Israeli government is YES, although I doubt they will (or have they already?). Politically and logistically, it would be a mess for Israel; but, in keeping with the Hebrew Bible command, they are morally bound to shelter, clothe, and feed the stranger. I had thought that Jesus said something similar in the New Testament, but, judging by many of the responses here, on a Catholic Forum no less, I guess I was mistaken. Rather, the politics of bigotry–no need to mince words–trumps (no pun intended) religious teaching.

When did safety become bigotry?
