Explain 1 Timothy 4, where Paul tells Timothy to read and teach from Scripture. Come now, really

Nowhere does it imply that all you need is the written word to be saved - Nowhere. **

In this verse, St. Paul is telling us that scripture will equip us for good works - not for salvation.

There are several passages that will tell you that obedience to faith is what is required - not simply the written word.

You have just been taught and corrected what Scripture says. It should be suficient for you if you are competent enough to be taught and corrected about the fact that suficient is not the same as competent.

You believe that Jesus did not do a perfect work on the cross for you and you have to now add to the perfect work by including your own self-righteous merit to save you. That false assumption condemns you, since that is not the true Gospel.
You will be the one saying “Lord, Lord”, if you do not have the true Gospel at death. Your false “purgatory” will not save you either.

I have great respect for many Protestants but contempt for those who go around mocking God’s Church and condemning souls.
**There IS no more biblical Church than the Catholic Church. ALL of her doctrines are biblically sound. That’s why the topic of this thread is true.

By the way - if you had done a little homework you would know that we don’t rely on Purgatory to “save us”.

Be careful, your agenda is showing. Where do you get your infoormation on the Catholic Church? Instead of dismissing CAtholic doctrine out of hand, would it be too much to ask where we get our doctrines? We would be more than happy to show you. You will see the we get our doctrines from the Bible, viewed through the lens of tradition. This type of interpretation is actually more scriptural than Sola Scriptura. Take a step back, calm down, and ask with an open mind. You will be surprised what you learn.

Also I think you should read more. Im not a Protestant, I’m a Catholic that’s converting to Orthodox. I heard the voice of Jesus and he told me the Catholic church is a good start but the full truth is over there.

But which Orthodox church are you converting to? They aren’t all in communion or agreement with each other are they? Why not explore the Eastern churches that are in communion with Rome (23 or 24 of them I think)? They have the Divine Liturgy and the history and approach to the sacred that the Orthodox do but have retained or regained unity with the west. They are part of the Catholic church.

I get tired of anti-Catholic attacks that have no basis in truth. The sad thing is that poorly catechized Catholics leave when they hear this kind of tripe because they believe it without finding out the truth for themselves.

I challenge you to tell me what is “unbiblical” about the Catholic Church and I will show you that it is the only Church founded by our Lord Jesus.
