Why are Protestants confused by Gays?

Wow, you don’t dislike protestants at all do you… .
Its not a dislike thing at all. Protestants are our separated brethren. I have a problem when Christians (and there are some Catholics in this bunch) who call Sin good and Good sin (Isa 5:20). I have a huge problem with that. If I offended you, my deepest and most humble apologies.

I’m pleased to hear that your church has not met with the moral decline. I would challenge you, however, to go talk to your pastor and see if he would be willing to marry two divorced people (both who were previously married in his church). I think his answer might surprise you! His stance on in-vitro fertilization, and embryonic stem cell research may also surprise you.

Actually, he has spoken about this during a few different services and it is no secret and there is no room for different interpretations on this… It is NOT right…

Well that leaves only one other major moral question.

After scanning this article I take it that you think that most if not all protestants condone abortion?

Poppy-cock… Abortion is WRONG. Plain and simple. Any church that claims different is not of God at least in this area.

As for contraception I won’t be using it when I get married. I am not sure about right or wrong. Not sure what my church believes on this but I do know that if God wants you to have a child you will have one if you are having sex so trying to prevent it is useless in my opinion. 🤷

Heck, I’m confused by Deo Volente: he’s pedaling that bicycle very hard just to get to where he wants to go. The more explanation like this, the less convincing it is to me.

You had already answered the abortion question in another post. I know you don’t approve.

Then you are already more Catholic than most Catholics, no insult intended.

It couldn’t hurt to find out.

So God really wants only 2.1 kids per family?

Sorry this is way off topic, seems like every thread about emotional issues goes off topic.

Why not? When a lot of catholics hold me accountable just because I am what they refer to as a protestant? If I say I am not catholic I am automatically a heretic protesting against Christ Himself and in some cases have been told that I hate Christ. Even on here. Why not? When even as a baptized christian I would be denied certain rights within the catholic church just because I have never gone through a class… Why not? Because even though I do not find the catholic church evil I have been told that because I am what you would call protestant, my belief system is led by Satan.

You guys aren’t the only ones who get tired of the other half not understanding and just making generalizations. I just don’t want to be associated with any church that breeds this kind of dislike for brothers and sisters in Christ. I would leave any ‘protestant’ church if it spoke out against catholics too…
Please show me the doctrine of the CC that states that your belief system is lead by Satan.

Show me where my church says that homosexuality is ‘ok’. Or that abortion is ok. Or that divorce is ok. Or that contraception is ok.

I am not saying that the catholic church as a whole says that my belief system is led by Satan but it doesn’t stop several catholics from telling me that it is.

Don’t get me wrong. People have a right to believe things about protestants as they like. I couldn’t care less because all I can do is live my life as God is commanding me to. What other people believe is not my problem. I address it when it comes up, as I am doing here, but I do not feel the need to beat it to death. I state my case, answer questions, and then leave it to God to work the seeds that I have planted.😊

The same reason Protestants are “confused” about divorce, sex outside of marriage, abortion, contraception, and euthanasia. They simply toss out biblical teaching when it is inconvenient.
The same happens in catholic circles too…of course I guess it’s inconvenient to admit that.

I never made such a claim so I don’t have to show you anything. Ask it if the person who made the claim.

And this is exactly my point. Anyone who says that your belief system is led by Satan is making a personal statement.

Since we don’t know which version of Protestantism you practice, that’s kind of hard to do. 😉

The majority of Protestant denominations do, in fact, take the attitude that contraception is the responsible approach to family management; that divorce, while sad, is not a reason not to remain in good standing with the church, or to get remarried; that abortion, too, while sad, is sometimes necessary if the mother is too young to leave school and raise a child, or if it might interfere with her health, or if her boyfriend doesn’t want the responsibility that goes with fathering a child.

The Catholic Church has never officially endorsed any of these things. There are many Protestant organizations that actually have these things in their statement of faith, and even have officially-approved liturgies to celebrate them.

This will never happen in the Catholic Church, even if some members mistakenly think that such things could be “okay” under some circumstances.

I realize that your magesterium has never condoned an activity such as homosexuality or abortion, nonetheless this doesn’t stop some of your members (laity and clerical) from fully endorsing such things.

It is rather irksome to see a thread “Why are Protestants confused by Gays?” when it would be just as accurate to have a thread entitled “Why are Catholics confused by Gays?”.

At best, only in words, and only in private. If a member of clergy were to proclaim that any of these things were “okay” in a homily or while giving advice in the Confessional, he’d be defrocked so fast it would make his head spin.

Lay people who support these things publicly (ie: pro-abortion politicians) are automatically excommunicated.

So there isn’t a single priest in the US that publicly condones homesexuality or abortion and hasn’t been removed from the clergy?

If there is, it’s only because he hasn’t been caught, or because he was careful in his wording to “love the sinner, but not the sin.”

There was a notorious parish where the pastor was breaking every rule there is, but he was sent on his way last summer, if I recall correctly, and the new guy is cleaning up the mess as best he can.

Very true.

Some of us know what the Catholic Church teaches, some of us don’t. Some of us deny, some of us don’t. Some take on the resposibility to find out, some don’t. Some blame the Church for their own ignorance, some don’t.

Some become protestants while searching for the truth, and some of those become Catholic again.

When a sinner goes shopping for a Church that fits his own moral “feelings”, he ain’t gonna end up Catholic.

The problem is that if they endorse homosexuality and/or abortion, they are no longer Catholics but heretics.
