Why Are Protestants Here?

Actually Lisa I said “minister” to Catholics. Firstly, Christians can minister to one another. Secondly, I have made statements in other threads on this board that I believe anyone can be a Christian regardless of their denomination. No, I don’t believe all people who call themselves Catholic are Christians. However, I also don’t believe all people who call themselves “insert name here” are Christians. I feel that God has led me to minister to Catholics. If He wants me to minister to Catholics, I’m going to try to do everything possible to do the best job that I can. That’s why I am considering the classes. That is why I said what I said. I have no idea which Catholics are or are not Christians. My concern is to be able to minister to Catholics in the best way I can for His glory.

Or perhaps stingray God may be calling you to be ministered to by the Catholics;) Sorry,for the mistaking terminology there was a rabid anti-catholic that was here who called himself “Witness”.God Bless

Wow, Stingray… what a kind offer! You said you want to minister to Catholics? Well I am a soon to be Catholic and I could use quite a bit of “ministering.” Two of my four children are sick with the flu, my laundry is piled up to the ceiling, the kitchen floor could use a good scrubbing and my husband and I haven’t had a night out in months! Come on over and start ministering! I can hardly wait!

BEFORE you start to teach us poor Roman Catholics your Brand of Christianity we deserve to know your Credentials for that task.
  1. What is you educational status?
  2. What is your “on-the-job” experience?
  3. What has been the “fruit” of your work? (who have you saved?)
  4. To minister to Catholics you certainly have to KNOW the Catholic faith. Can you give some references attesting to you knowledge of the Roman Catholic Faith?
We are not going to buy an unknown quantity. Have you ever completed a CCD or any Catholic course? If the answers tho these questions are negative the for you to teach Catholics would be like the Blind leading the Blind. I hope you can answer afffirmatively to all these questions

( You say some Catholics aren’t Christians. Do you know what is high up, front and center in every Catholic Church?)

I’m sorry that things have gotten to the point that you are finding yourself in a dog pile of sorts. I, for one, would like to welcome you here, although I would like to caution you as to what exactly Christ is calling you to do. If we look at the stories of the various prophets, we can see that frequently the voice of God is difficult to discern correctly, and man is often lead astray in the correct following of Our Lord.

The Catholic Church teaches the importance of proper discernment when it hesitates to accept various private revelations until they have been fully checked out. This frustrates many faithful Catholics who would like to see their favorite apparition approved by the Church, (e.g. Majagoria, where many wonderful conversions have occurred, and yet the Church remains skeptical of the source of the apparitions).

Know that the devil is also known as the Liar and he whispers in the ear of many the half truths that lead them astray. Know also that God will always prevail and makes good come from every evil. Perhaps Carol Marie is correct when she suggests you are actually meant to come here so that you might better understand the Catholic position for your own salvation.

Whether it is for your salvation or that of others, if you desire to post here, I believe you would be far more effective if you would pray to the Holy Spirit (which I know you do) for guidance while learning the truly Catholic position on those issues which you seek to debate. Perhaps if we were to see that you truly understood our position correctly, you would have an opportunity to touch more souls. Perhaps that touching would be done more in union with the desires of Christ.

I will pray for you and those with whom you converse.

No problem. Also, I have no problem with being ministered to by Catholics. I don’t think it’s an either/or thing. I believe He can use both Catholics and non-Catholics to minister to one another.

Well in that context it sounds alot more palatable and indeed true.You may not know this but we have had some poster violently attack us in their posts and sometime we may be on the defensive and if I or anyone else hear takes your post out of context,explain what you mean and I don’t feel anyone hear is above an apology;) Stick around a little and you will see why we might be a little suspicious at times.God Bless

I was a Protestant minister once and now am a Catholic priest. If you want to minister to Catholics I invite you to come to the fullness of truth in the Catholic Church. Then we will see about getting you into seminary and ordained. You will be able to minister to us all you want then.

I have just read that CARM is a 501 3C org. They are using their site to avoid paying income tax.

What a cheap shot!
 
I have read the Anti-Catholic paper on Transubstantiation on the site called CARM ( a 501 3C site). It is as Anti-Catholic with subtle ommisions of truth to bolster their false claims.

There is a poster on this and other Catholic Answer Forum threads named STINGRAY. Here is one of his comments.

"Of course, there are two sides to every story. Anyone interested in getting the whole story can go over to CARM and view the interactions you had there for themselves."

STINGRAY says to go to CARM to get the whole story, ha, ha.

This is evidence that Stingray and some others are NOT here to learn about Catholism. They are here to cause disorder.

I have never understood the concept of people coming into a forum to “minister” to anyone much less coming in to a Catholic forum and saying you want to “minister” to them from a different faith. I find it rude, rather obtuse and socially strange. Having a “relationship” is a two way street - there are interfaith forums, there are forums where religion is a category and people mix and meet.

I love the way this place has been set up, where we have a section where we can discuss, question and explain to one another what we differ on, why we differ on it and have some really good debates and discussions. I’ve had questions and those of other rites, faiths, churches have really been terrific about answering my questions and helping me to understand. I’ve tried to return the example when I could but I really don’t want to be “ministered” to.

I am here because I wanted more point of views and had questions, not to bash or argue.
 
I found this site on a web search. I grew up a Catholic/Baptist. Basically fell away from “organized religion”, I NEVER changed my view of the Trinity. Married a Luthern (ELCA-became to liberal for us, switched to non-denom. Was always interested in Church history, who the early Christians were and how it got to be so sect oriented. After my divorce, had more time to read, study. brought me straight to Orthodoxy/Catholisism. For myself, I am more Orthodox. I will defend both the Orthodox and Catholic faith. I never considered my self protestant, even when attending protestant churches, thats a label of others. I have always and will always remain a Christian.( BTW, where is the spell check on here?)

I was invited by a Catholic.
 
I found out I had been baptized Catholic as an infant and hadn’t known it, then a Catholic acquaintance lent me a book called Eucharistic Miracles. Anyway, I wanted to know what it was all about. It turned out that I wasn’t able to accept many crucial tenets of Catholicism, but believe me that my motivations in coming here were honest. Oh, and I stick around to better understand the Catholic part of my family heritage.

My problem with non-catholics on this site is:
  1. that they ask a lot of questions that are expertly answered in a variety of ways across the internet. A basic google search would give them enough to read until the Second Coming (not buddha’s, he ain’t commin back).
  2. They refuse to answer questions we ask them! There are very few exceptions.
    ie They want to preach a MONOLOGUE, not DIALOGUE!

yes, I am aware that there are answers online. many are reliable. many are helpful. but here I (a non-Catholic) can learn more from people who have always or not always been Catholic. here I can talk to someone who has been in a similar situation. I can ask for advice. I can ask for prayer. I think it’s a great resource to have, lectures and articles can only help so much.

I’ve answered questions about the history and beliefs of my faith. I prefer not to get into debates and arguments, but receive and exchange cultural/religious practices and beliefs. if you are unhappy with the amount of non-Catholics on the site, I would kindly suggest that you steer clear of the “non-Catholic religions” page… but that’s just a suggestion.
