The Apostles represent the bishops and priests, and are given the sacrament of Holy Orders during the Last Supper.

They do not represent the laypeople and their manner of receiving Communion.

Reverence is a concern in an age of little reverence. Great concern, when people do not believe God is in the Eucharist commonly and casually, and treat Him lightly even when they have some idea that He is there.

Greater external reverence for the sake of love.

Are you saying that, during the Last Supper, Jesus really didn’t mean it , when He blessed the bread, broke it and gave it to his disciples saying: "“this is my body”? Did this act have no meaning as to how this consecrated bread should be distributed and the meaning of this act? The bread was broken and distributed - then, I assume, was eaten by the hand. Wasn’t this not the basis for our distributing Communion to the lay people.

I do agree 100%, with you, that reverence is most important when distributing communion. I see a lot of reverence in my church when this is done by the priests and the LMHC’s, which I am one of them. Believe me, I take this as an honor to be in this position. Reverence during the distribution of communion is a MUST and anyone not showing this reverence should be removed from this position.

I don’t approve of conspiracy theorism. I do approve of calling a spade a spade, and common (uncommon?) sense. Willfull blindness is a sin too.

Do you pretend there is no agenda against kneeling and receiving on the tongue? Do you truly believe this pretense?

I don’t think I need to testify to the evidence for the real motivations behind these changes, because so many people already have who have experienced it. And it is written in the forums here. . under the search form.

The devils are conspiring against the Church, and every pastor, priest, bishop, and layperson has to be on guard against their temptations, whether to sin or simply to mistakes, and these can be part of entire cultural world views and movements.

And God allows all this for our greater good, so that through persecution and trials, we bear our crosses all the more for His sake.

If a person desiring the licit practice of receiving Communion on the Tongue, while kneeling, is denied that, illicitly, by a bishop, with the excuse of it being ‘for the health’ of a person’s body, when it is clear that other measures or truly none need to be taken for that sake, especially not the one taken and illicitly enforced – I know the real motivation behind the decision.

It is the same motivation that tore apart beautiful churches everywhere, threw away sacred altars, destroyed statues, and demolished the discipline and faith of millions. . With ‘good intentions’ on the surface spoken of throughout.

It is as clear as a bell. The results… are clear. I pray someday it is to you too.

Hard to face perhaps, but not if you trust in God through difficult times and the finer weather too.

So, the answer to my question is yes, you are merely spouting a personal opinion and no, you don’t have any documentation to back up your claims that there is some kind of agenda to undermine the practice of receiving communion on the tongue, kneeling, etc. Ok. Now I know how seriously to take your posts. I won’t bother you again.

I’m not sure I can answer this question either. Our church has a communion rail and we use it. I receive on the tongue while kneeling.

In a Lutheran church where I was a member years ago, we had the communion rail, and it did make communion more special.

At my Parish the Priest walks out of the sacristy with an altar boy. The communicant opens their mouth and the altar boy places the paten below the chin.

We have a packed Parish and usually only two priests are administering communion (sometimes even one) and it still only takes on average maybe five to ten minutes. But we do have an altar rail.

It seemed more reverent. We received from the common cup. It was Missouri Synod, which may be closer to being Catholic than others. I just liked it.

Now that I am Roman Catholic we kneel at the pew during the Eucharist. I cannot kneel because of bad knees. That makes me sad because I feel I am missing a closeness of the community.

He said, “Take this and eat it”. The Apostles were not mouth-fed. I do understand how careful we must be in doing this, and it can done so without taking away from the meaning of His instruction to us.

In reading these many many comments, I believe we are missing the most impotant point of what we are doing and why we are doing it. Jesus will take care of any details that we may confront in taking the Host in a proper way. I am sure He will look down on each of us and smile when the Host, His body, is consumed into our bodies, whether by hand or tongue.

Christians are not perfect, but are forgiven by one who is.

Jesus in the form of His Catholic Church had given us two alternatives – CitH and CotT. The problems arise when one tries to justify their personal choice as being “superior.”
