Recently I was having a debate which led me to needing to learn a bit about ectopic pregnancies and why the Church allows them to be terminated. I read the previous posts about them on this Forum and they do not help much. The basic reasoning I got was that you are not actually aborting the child, but just removing the tube in which the child is which results in the child’s death. This doesn’t make sense to me.
It seems like the removal of the tube during an ectopic pregnancy is just a loop hole to killing the baby and saving the mother’s life. If you were to somehow kill the child and remove it from the tube, that would be considered an abortion and be morally wrong, correct? But if you remove the tube and the child dies, that is ok?
Is there something I’m missing?
