Why are the New Age movement and other exotic ideas so attractive?

True but this is why we have Holy Tradition.

Catholics are not sola scriptura, so this shouldn’t be a big deal.

It is a big deal because Holy Tradition is decidedly against them as well.

Well,the people in the pews are “Christian”, right? The authorities are not the only “Christians”, correct?

I’m not rejecting the bodily resurrection in these posts.
Somebody who rejects bodily resurrection cannot be a Christian, because he rejects the central event of Christ’s life, the event that defined HIM. There’s no curse there, just a prerequisite of faith.

OK, but Jesus Himself never made believing in His bodily resurrection a precondition for being called “Christian”. In fact, Jesus never used the word “Christian”.

Sticking with the Thomas event: Right, which leaves those who don’t believe in Him, in an undetermined category.

This is standard Catholic doctrine: those who are not presently (in this lifetime) Christian, may or may not be saved. Their status is undetermined.

John 8:42 If God were your Father you would LOVE ME for I came from God and am here, I did not come on my own. Because you CANNOT BEAR to hear my world you belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your fathers desires.🤷

Okay lets do this another way, Whom do you say saves us from ALL sins if not Jesus Christ? Lets step away from as what you call Standard Catholic doctrine. What other kind of Doctrine is there?

We were referring to the time Thomas put his hand in Jesus’ side. On that occasion, Jesus said nothing about those who would not believe.

I thought he did. He said in my words Thomas please help yourself you ONLY believe because you see me. Then he said BLESSED are those who believe but do not see.

IF you are considered Blessed you are of God.

To speak of several “lifetimes” is incompatible with “Catholic doctrine,” but, hey, you already knew that.

A human body. But an upgraded version; pneumatikon soma.

While, as you suggested, some functions e.g. the breathing, will be modified; there will be no doubt that, as with our LORD, the human being who died has resumed his/her live being.

And everybody (each human life/mind) will receive the pneumatikon soma. Not just “spirits” who have lived as several human beings each. Everybody.

But back to the point I think another thing that makes the new age movement so attractive is empty promises!!:eek:

Kind of reminds me of the weeks of Easter when we all continue to renew our Baptism.

Yes as Jesus said you are either WITH me or you are AGAINST me.

If you accept Christ you accept NO OTHER. It is one of our Ten commandments. I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD!!

I’m not referring to multiple lifetimes here. The Catholic teaching is that, even if someone is not formally a member of the Church before he or she dies, that person may be saved.

Which in no way departs from the truth ALL SALVATION COMES FROM JESUS CHRIST.
