Why are there so many mean-spirited people on these forums?

One thing about this form of communication is that it’s easy to say things that you would never say to someone’s face. I find that it happens in e-mail as well. It’s easy to scream at your monitor and forget that there’s a real person behind it.
that’s a good point

But, we should try to be mindful that this is a Catholic board, and as Catholics…we should try to differentiate ourselves from the rest of the pack of nasty people in the world. I recall a recent speech from Fr Corapi…where he said…‘we need to be different, otherwise, people will view us as just like the rest.’ Living our faith, sometimes means checking our egos at the door…and not always trying to be right or get the last word. It can be hard–we’re all human–but we can strive to do that through Christ.:grouphug:

Your comment reminds me of an incident that happened a few days ago where this driver hit a two year old toddler and then a mob of bystanders attacked the driver and killed the passenger of the vehicle. The child didn’t even sustain life threatening injuries. Another incident was this woman that was allowed to die in agony while in an emergency waiting room. Many health care attendants saw her dying in excruciating pain and did nothing to help her. They even had a janitor clean up the bloody vomit around her as she lay dying. No doctor cared to lift a finger to help her even though they had the time and resources to do so. It’s not only the rudeness of society that scares me but also the seeming death of charity and the strong tendency toward violence. I hope those incidents are not indicative of the spiritual bankruptcy of this nation as a whole. 😦
those are terribly tragic stories:(

Amen, amen!! 🙂

Yep, I hear ya. … was called a fool when I criticized — the exact post to me was “You are a fool.” And that was the whole post. Nice, huh?

Suffice it to say that the internet is a magnet for breedbates. When you receive a rude post, remember that most of us reading it can see it for what it is.
I am glad i am not the only one who has gone through this kind of thing… For awhile there, i was thinking there was something seriously wrong with me because i would get these kinds of replies…

I am wondering what “breedbates” are??

I frankly think some people have virtually sold their souls to the devil… Strong words, but hey, would anyone who loves Jesus say such hateful things???

I have had many people on this forum accuse me of having a bad “tone” or being “smug”.
i think there are some people here who just want to ACCUSE… don’t really need much of a valid reason or excuse… Just my opinion…
But I do have a problem in conveying my real “tone” in writing…kind of perfectionist when I write…It’s …hard to just turn that off when I’m here on this forum and it seems to really get under people’s skin. I’m always being reprimanded! :ouch:
Like i said, i think some people just like to accuse, etc… and reprimand. Its some weird psychological issue they have… that’s my (short) version of the problem…

Don’t take it personally. Its not you, its “them”…

…the ubiquitous… scary-sounding… never-ending, un-relenting, unfathomable “THEM”… !!! 😃

God bless… 🙂

It is, in fact. And I’ll note briefly that I and other people I know have recovered from addiction without any belief in Jesus, for whatever that’s worth. Any discussion, let’s take elsewhere…
All healing comes through Jesus, whether He gets the direct credit for it or not… 🙂

breedbate…hmm…I have never heard of that word–that’s a cool sounding word.

:gopray: I have read many of the posts on these forums and about 10% or so seem to be written by people who have serious emotional/psychological problems… the most problematic of which is that, through their words, they seem to show that they don’t “love others as [Christ] has loved [them]”.

Well, bless the 10% who have problems, I am glad they come here, they are needing love and guidance, and we can show them by our example how to “love others as Christ has loved them”

Blessings
