I’m a catholic and have been struggling with my faith. I would like to know how to get stronger. I also was wondering if God is real, why are there so many versions of Christianity and not only one?
Faith is a theological virtue and can only be given by God. Ask God to increase your faith, strengthen your hope, and perfect your love every day. Pray the rosary daily. Ask God to reveal Himself to you before you pray the rosary and then delve into meditating on the mysteries. This will increase your faith. But, you have to ask God for these things.

This is a great question (about the versions) but I am confused what it has to do with whether or not God is real? Dont’ you think people are perfectly capable of making up their own versions?

Hello Everyone

Peter give the following instruction
2 Pet 1: 5 For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For whoever lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be the more zealous to confirm your call and election, for if you do this you will never fall; 11 so there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
12 Therefore I intend always to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. 13 I think it right, as long as I am in this body,[d] to arouse you by way of reminder, 14 since I know that the putting off of my body[e] will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. 15 And I will see to it that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.""
7 attributes we are to ever increase in, as in never stop increasing in them, (all of them) , or we will fall. And Peter thought this was very important to make this an issue.

Long story short, Jesus did establish a Church, but because of human frailty, some people splintered away.
I think God allowed this back then because He knew so many would be seeking Him today. Our little minds & our little hearts can only take so much at a time. Hence we find that form of Christianity we can comprehend, allow Him to transform us… or not. Take that next step… or not.

. I would like to know how to get stronger.
Read up on the Saints find one who connects with you. Pattern your life after theirs.

I recently discovered the Carmelite tradition. & so much of that order just clicked with me that I’ve entered the formation process as a lay person or “tertiary.”

There are other orders, Jesuits, Dominicans, Franciscans… all with their particular way of following “the way.”

We’re all called to holiness & we all need a little help.

Just look at all the people on CAF. Read a few threads and see what “people” are like. The answer should then “hit you in the head” as people are people.

I was wondering if there are so many versions and only one is true, why would God allow that to happen. Sorry for my wording.

Thank you for your reply! I had another question, if you don’t mind answering, do non-Catholics still make it heaven? Does God help non- Catholics as well?

If you believe the Church is the body of Christ, there can be only one. Others claiming to be that body would then be the antichrist/false prophets he told us about.

Ours is to look for the truth. & never stop. We’ll never understand or know all there is to know about God.

I was taught to pray for my loved ones who have passed, Catholic or not… so great is God’s Mercy.

The Catholic Church is the only version established by Jesus.

Jesus said, to His apostles

Satan has demanded to sift YOU (plural, all the apostles) like wheat, but I have prayed for YOU (singular) Simon that your faith won’t fail. and after you’ve been sifted and recover, then strengthen your brothers. [Lk 22:31-32]

Satan has been sifting… and has been exceptionally effective.

in extension

Paul made the following warning to the Church of Rome about Satan & division

While Jesus said Satan has been allowed to sift all of us, staying sifted as in staying separated from His Church that He built on Peter and those in communion with Peter, is condemned.

The Orthodox Church would disagree with you.
Which is why around 1000AD they called themselves orthodox because guess whom they think no longer is?

Prove them wrong…

So the result has been that today’s churches disagree on many doctrines, based on various interpretations of many verses.
And this would not be so if those who initially left had a firm understanding of the authority Christ gave his church. He had already made provision for misinterpretation and division. People decided they knew better than the system he created.

The silence to your question is telling. But perhaps being Christmas nobody has yet responded.

19They went out from us, but they were not really of our number;13 if they had been, they would have remained with us. Their desertion shows that none of them was of our number.

This is a good reply. I would say the exact same thing. Pick up that history book and do read it. But read it fully! That is when the fascination starts and you realise Newman should have read somewhat more!
