I have a quick question on the death of Judas. The NAB in its infamous footnotes states that the story of Judas’s death in Matthew and Acts are in conflict, however, since all of Scripture is true, this cannot be the case, has there been any scholarship done to explain this apparent discrepency in scripture, something from the Church Fathers? To me it sounds like they can be reconciled because in a way Judas bought the plot of land by the fact that it was the money he threw back to the Pharisees that was used to buy the cemetary and his falling headlong in Acts might be more metaphorical like in the OT regarding falling headlong into sin and then his spliting in his stomach may have been something that happened to him when he hanged himself (which might of been on the plot of land purchased)).
Plus, any idea why the Bishops approved a translation that uses such sloppy use of language in its footnotes from the perspective of faith? (I understand that they might be valid footnotes from a purely secular scholarship perspective but they to not attempt in any way to close up the apparent gaps in Scripture, for example with respect to the differing Geneologies of Jesus it simply references that they are different due to the emphasis of the author with no mention of how they are reconcilable (i.e. Africanus or Eusebius)).
