Oh, in my opinion they do. They do not create energy though, they create a pattern, that represents what we are. What I am trying to say is, there is no need for an extra component besides that pattern, like “essence”, “affinity”, “spirit”, whatever you may call it.
Your soul is non-material, i.e. spirit. If it were created by atoms or physical forces it would be material. Matter is composed of parts (atoms, etc). Anything composed of parts can come apart, and thus would not be immortal.
