Hi Father, My son who is now a sophomore in college is still going to church (most weeks) after 12 years of Catholic school, knows his faith, but lately has been asking a lot of questions.
He asked me out of the blue, “why are we here, what’s the purpose?” “Is it better to be naive and poor to get into heaven?” “Is morality not regulated by religion wrong?” The list goes on but I can safely assume, many of his classes are having him question his faith and beliefs and I think he wants to be able to argue some of it, at least within the parameters he could.
Can you suggest a good book that explains our existence and why he like many others are here on earth? He said it’s depressing to think your entire life is preparing to die but I think his age and maturity also make it difficult to put in perspective.
