Hello! I have a few questions concerning hair and head coverings.

In 1Corinthians 11:3-16, Paul says that “any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unvieled brings shame upon her head,” and goes on to talk about shame of shaved heads etc.
Can you explain why women are not required by the Church to keep their heads covered? Is it sinful as a woman to cut my hair short or for a man to grow his long?
It occurred to me that perhaps this was only meant for the people of Corinth, and perhaps hair and head coverings were, at that time, important to the society of Corinth and the Greeks. 🤷

However, I would like an educated explanation from the Church’s perspective before I jump to any conclusions.
Thank you for you time!

Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’s Inter Insigniores:
But it must be noted that these ordinances, probably inspired by the customs of the period, concern scarcely more than disciplinary practices of minor importance, such as the obligation imposed upon women to wear a veil on their head (1 Cor 11:2-16); such requirements no longer have a normative value.
Essentially is was a custom of a certain time and place but not related to anything that is inherently about faith or morals.
