I don’t mean, why did you choose to be a Christian.

What does it mean to be a Christian?

How are you a Christian? (Not how do you become a Christian, but how are you a Christian?)

For what reason are you a Christian–what’s the Christian purpose?

**To be a Christian means to be a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth. To seek to follow his teachings and share in his “incarnation” to reflect him in my life. **

I am a Christian through the unmerited grace and mercy of God through Christ Jesus.

For what reason are you a Christian–what’s the Christian purpose?

"We love him because he first loved us…" I am drawn to the message of this man who loved so radically even in the face of death…HE LOVED. My purpose is to “become like Christ” and to share the message of his love for this broken world. My purpose is to live now in the Kingdom of God and to be a servant of the Light to assist those who are in darkness to find the Light and eventually be a part of “that great Ocean of Light and Love that floods over the ocean of Darkness and Death.”…the purpose…to be a person of God.

IMO, I am a Christian because I believe in AND attempt to follow Jesus.

A Christian is a baptized man or woman who believe what the Church believes, who lives what the Church lives, and who prays what the Church prays, being a member of the Body of Christ. In brief, a Christian is a man or woman who imitates Christ Jesus by doing the Father’s Will.
 
A Christian is one who believes that Jesus Christ is the resurrected son of God, who loves the Almighty as much as his fellow man (with every fiber of his being), and who lives the life to reflect such.

Funny how something that was probably meant as a lash at non-RCs can turn out to be something that non-RC Christians agree with…
Because that is exactly how a Christian is best defined: Someone who believes in Jesus, and attempts to live as He would want us to.

Ahhh, my friend, isn’t it though? I’m not sure that you are right in your assumption, but its an interesting thought all the same… 🙂

And, I think, that you will find that many Catholics actually do view it that way…because that’s what it is all about!!

I think, that “if all of us”, were to live according to Christ’s Word, we would drop all of the barriers and agree to live in peace and in accord with His Word…and we would all be better off for it.

Please my friend, do not assume that all Catholics are antagonistic to our non-Catholic brethren…its not so. Yes we have “differences”, but yet we have so many commonalities!! Would it not be better to dwell on the commonalities than the differences??🙂

BTW… I trust you are wearing “goose down” and staying warm there… We’re expecting some cold weather here… :eek:

I don’t see this as a lash at non Catholics, but perhaps at Sola fide proponents.

Even the demons believe.🙂
