I don’t mean this to be sarcastic at all. I’m just curious. Of those of you who are Muslim, how did you end up on a Catholic forum? And why? This would apply to all non Catholic religions on these boards, but this is the topic I was reading when I thought of it, so I’ll ask you.

Someone on a Muslim forum had said that there was a lot of misconceptions about Islam here and that non-muslims were aswring peoples questions about Islam (and most of the time giving them incorrect information)

so i came…
1.To clear the misconceptions and misunderstandings that people have about Islam.
  1. To give someone who honestly wants to learn about Islam an opputunity to get the truth.

Although I’m not Muslim I think I can answer the question:
–Because Catholic Answers has an Islam forum under the heading of “Non-Catholic Religions.”

In any case, non-Catholics are not barred from the CA forums.

A friend, a muslim, in his case a sufi, calls me his brother in god. Among Christians we might say brother in Christ.

Another friend, who for various reasons when he was working in the middle east, having a great gift for languages, read the Koran in arabic. I turned to him in mass one day for the sign of peace and said sallam al-akum. (Peace be with you) and he responded alakum salam (and peace be with you). Forgive me if I made errors in spelling. The point I’m making is that we have to be welcoming. It is a blessing to have a person from outside our faith dialouge with us. Whatever we find true in his statements we can find in our own faith.

The highest truth of the catholic faith is love. That includes love for the stranger.

Welcome my brother in God

I live in an area with a lot of Muslim people. My neighbor was Islamic and invited me to a party-interesting. Then they backed into my brand new car and left a note claiming responsibility-very interesting. Then they moved to an unknown address without paying the money I asked to have the car repaired-not very interesting. They were MD’s and engineers. I guess I would not do that being a Christian.

Dear Rebbecca

I know plenty of Christians who would have not even left the note.

We gain nothing by condemming people as a group. In fact we can only judge actions and words not groups, souls, nations etc. Certainly not the ultimate disposition of someones soul.

I spend many hours talking with muslims. I don’t shy away from defending my faith or illuminated either differences of similarities with Islam.

What I wonder, is if we are not open to friendship with Islamic people why are we hear? Arn’t we to treat them as Jesus would have.

We say that the trinity is the Father, creator loving the son, his word and the love that exists between them is the Holy spirit.

Paul says that love is the greatest of all things…

The old testament advises us to be kind to the strangers among us.

It is said that we are all made in the image and likeness of God.

So if that stranger, a muslim, is made in the image and likeness of God, mustent we shown them the holy spirit filled love that the father wants us to, in order that they can understand the trinity.

We call it a mystery because it cannot be explained with mere words, but must be understod through prayer and action.

Welcome our brothersand sisters in God because we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

By doing so they may understand the incarnation of that love.

I am not muslm, although I would like to answer your question.

I was kinda raised catholic. That is I was babtized catholic, had my first communion, and attended a catholic church until I was about 10 or so. I have been away from the church for many years (i’m now 28) Recently I have had some troubles in my life and I have turned to God for help. Since the catholic church is the only church I know, I began attending again.
I’m not really sure if I am catholic, but I am trying to find God. As for being on this forum I have many questions about religion. Reading the other threads answers a lot of those questions. I have been learning a lot here by simple observing threads that I know nothing about the subject matter.
It is also been fun to respond to threads about life’s issues. (this is a subject I can throw my 2 cents at) I have needed a lot of emotional and moral support lately. I have been returning to this forum because the folks here make me feel like I matter. They have cared enough to respond to my posts, and continued to respond even when I was droning on and on.

Thank you all!!! You have been there when I needed someone the most!
