Read the message here. She is tired of it!!! I just can’t believe how there is so much positive in this message and then there is always someone who looks for the negative. This person does not look mean or arrogant in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!!!
I read it. My observation stands. Persons who would describe other persons as appearing “close-minded, stupid, ignorant, deaf, blind, and arrogant” based on the use of those words should not expect an immunity from their own standards.

I agree.

IT IS WELL SAID… BRAVO…But sadly i have to explain my point (HERE GOES THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE)

How can you remain cool when someone tells you THE POPE IS THE ANTICHRIST…or …THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE WHORE OF BABILON. That really ignites me and i can tell you i lose control more than once. in my town the other christian churches are gaining ground so fast is incredible, why??? because here we catholics are ZZZZZ SLEEPING…AND NO ONE CARES.

personally i am mean because the other people insult me…my house (the church) my mother (Mary) and the pope

REMEMBER WHAT BENITO JUAREZ SAID: May the people and the government respect the rights of all. Between individuals, as between nations, peace means respect for the rights of others".

Miguel, that is exactly what we should aspire to.

“Are we sinners today?” yes of course.

“Are we trying hard to live our lives like Christ?” - I hope we all do.

I still remember the story of JP II, where in a public meeting some official of another faith ripped him up personally and in representing his faith. When he was done the diatribe, which was supposedly pretty vicious in an attack on JP’s beliefs, everyone turned to see what JP would do - here is that master theologian, the Pope, the Vicar of Christ, and the sword has clearly been drawn.

JP stood up, faced the man…and gave him a big hug and thanked him for his opinions. They then went on in a discussion of their agenda.

I am far from perfect, but when I am trying to figure out right from wrong, I know how Christ would act in these situations.

A **man who is truly humble is not troubled when he is wronged and he says nothing to justify himself against the injustice, but he accepts slander as truth; he does not attempt to persuade men that he is calumniated, but he begs forgiveness. **

Please pray for me… i am FAR FROM BEING LIKE JPII ( NO FAIR YOU PUT THE EXAMPLE WAYYYYY TOOOO FAR) BECAUSE I STILL HAVE TO MANAGE MY EMOTION I KNOW WE MUST BE HUMBLE BUT NOT WEAK.

Joseph Bilodeau - I apologize. You are right, that is hypocritical of me. I wasn’t really thinking of that when I typed it - I was thinking of the little ditty we sang in second grade “whatever you call someone else, that’s what you are!!” Of course, this always turned into “you’re cool.” “No I’m not, you’re cool!” “Oh, yeah? Well, you’re awesome.” “Yeah, well, you’re awesome times infinity.” Ohh, we were stupid little kids.

It was anger that prompted this post. You’d think I’d know by now not to post when I am angry, because my thinking is never very lucid when I’m angry. Sigh… that stupid little kid is still in me. What do they call it nowadays, the inner child? Ha!

I still agree with what I said, but no longer as an absolute. I guess it’s just that I’ve never seen it happen any other way.

betra2000 - Thank you, but don’t worry about it. I pick out the negative in everything, and I deserve it. And anyway, I prefer honesty, and when I’m wrong, it’s good that I’m corrected.

miguel delgado - You are right to be angry. But love through your anger. Ohh, so often I wish I could take my own advice!

What did Jesus do when he was mocked, spat on, humilated and beaten? I don’t recall any meanness.

You have a good point RR570, but I know I’ve been where he is and at least he doesn’t think of his meanness as proper “witnessing” like some of the folks who dump all that on us. I’ve been there and it’s unreal. You probably have never done that to one of us and unless you ever saw it for yourself, you might even think that we are exagerating. 🙂

Pax tecum,
No, I don’t know that I’ve ever dumped that on you guys, at least not intentionally.

I do know what its like to become angry. I work with people who think they are so spiritually enlightened, adn that the Bible is full of errors and fairy tales and that God is just whatever any person wants him to be, etc etc, and then they think I’m some closed minded ogre who is out to force my beliefs on the world, despite the fact that I’ve never pushed my beliefs on anyone and usually will only discuss it when someone else brings it up. So yes, it does make my pot boil a bit.

BUT, that is when I have to take a step back, and pray that God give me his grace and patience to show his love, since I know that responding in anger will only make them say “There, see???”

God loves them. Why can’t you?
I always knew that there was another reason why I am not God. 😉

As others have said, that was a fabulous post. 🙂

Dark chocolate is actually good for you, reducing cholesterol, good news for women.
Not so good news for men, who will now have to suffer eating chocolate…

Good advice from the OP.

But a story from This Rock popped into my mind. It was one where someone had been gently and kindly leading her friend to the Church. One day her friend said something that was so completely the opposite direction she got fed up and YELLED at her friend and stomped out in anger.

The friend later apologized. Soon after the friend started classes for RCIA. The article in no way endorsed yelling at people to get them to convert, but in this case, it was what worked!

“Meanness” and righteous anger can sometimes be mistaken for one another especially on this forum. And some people need righteous anger thrown at them to see the truth.

Truth can be presented in many ways. Not that I think the OP is saying this, but frequently, visitors here say “people are being mean” when what is happening is non Catholics are presenting their view of the truth and being soundly rejected with evidence, reams and reams, showing where they are wrong.

That said, some people here are just plain mean. But most who gets accused of it are simply presenting the unvarnished truth of Christ with no apologies.

God Bless,
Maria

REMEMBRE THE VENDORS AT THE TEMPLE??? WAS JESUS HUMBLE WHEN HE MADE THE WHIP??? AND THE WOMAN WHO JESUS TOLD: “YOU DONT TAKE THE BREAD FROM THE CHILDREN AND GIVE THEM TO DOGS” THERE JESUS TOLD THE WOMAN DOG,
I THINK WHEN PROTESTANTS ARE NOT MEAN YOU CAN TALK RELIGION OVER AT DINNER (I HAVE INVITED SOME TO A RESTAURANTS AND TALK RELIGION THERE AND HAVE BECAME FRIENDS) BUT WHEN SOMEONE ONLY BLABS THAT I AM CONDEMN FOR PRAIING TO SAINTS OR MARY…WELL…AS I SAID NO ONE INSULTS MY HOUSE (THE CHURCH) MY MOTHER (MARY) OR THE POPE.

HOPE I WRITE EVERYTHING WELL (PLEASE PARDON MY ENGLISH IF I ERR)

Some may be doing that, but others present what they believe to be the truth, but it is their version, their opinion, and not actually the unvarnished truth of Christ, no matter how much the meanies claim it to be the “truth”. Way too much personal opinion passes as Church doctrine, unfortunately.

Besides meanness, it comes across as putting unnecessary, additional burdens on people (was that in the Bible somewhere?)

Oh, and yes, chocolate is a vegetable – it comes from a bean! Or does that make it a legume? 😃

 While some may try to present their opinion as truth, I have never seen them get by without a challenge by others.

But I frequently see those who speak the truth in love, get bashed for being mean. JMHO.

Jesus is our perfect example, as someone pointed out, when talking to a women Jesus said the dogs (refering to her) do not get fed before the master. Not politically correct. He could even be accused of being mean, but still does not mean He was not speaking the truth in love. Truth can hurt. Truth can sound harsh. Does not equal being mean.
