Why aren't there beads on a rosary for the Glory Be?

There are beads for the other prayers.

You just use the space in between the last Hail Mary and the next Our Father.

May be because that’s the way how it was originally presented to St. Dominique.

However, if you want to have it custom made just for your own personal use, I don’t see any reason why not. Besides, I don’t think Mother Mary would mind either. It’s the heart that you put into it that matters the most.

GOD bless! 🕊️🕊️😇🕊️🕊️

I just think of it as saying a couple of prayers on a part of the chain. We say not only a ‘Glory Be’ but also an ‘O my Jesus, forgive us our sins’ on those little bits of chain.

Perhaps we should figure out extra prayers to say on every presently unused part of the chain . . . 🙏

I think so. I recently thought the Glory Be may have been added later on to counter those who had issues with praying to God only once then ten times to Mary. I think we can add all kinds of prayers on the chains because it is a devotional and not subject to strict regulation.

The Glory Be’s were added to the Rosary in the early 16th century, at the same time that the second half of the Hail Mary (Holy Mary, Mother of God, etc…) was being developed and added. It was not out of any motivation to “counter those who had issues with praying to God only once then ten times to Mary” because the Catholic clergy and Popes at that time would have had choice words for anybody who complained about that, and not been trying to placate them.

The way I’ve always understood it is that one Our Father is worth ten Hail Mary’s, not that Mary is more important than God. You can point that out if ever you encounter such an objection.

I’ve been thinking about this a bit, and I’m kind of stuck. Our Lady told us at Fatima that God was upset at how many people took His Name in vain.

Now, I remember that there was a saint, maybe St. Faustina, although that’s just mostly a guess, who said that anytime you hear somebody swear, that you should say something along the lines of “Marvelous is the Name of the Lord” or “Glorious is the Name of the Lord” or something like that and that we have no idea how much good that does. And that’s my problem, I can’t remember what it was or who said it. I just remember that it was very short and sweet and that a saint said it, probably one who was a nun.

Well, I bet you can all guess what my thought was. I was thinking if only I knew what that was, I could say one of those on each of those extra unused little sections of chain. It would be short, sweet, and recommended by a saint (although that wasn’t really it’s intended purpose).

So, does anybody have any idea of exactly who said it and exactly what it was? I would really like to know. 🙂

The rosary essentially consists of 150 Aves and 15 Paternosters (or 200 and 20 if you do the luminous mysteries). All other prayers are extras. Maybe thats why there aren’t beads for them

Yes! Thank you so much! That’s it exactly. From now on, I will try to say “Admirable is the Name of God!” on every unused section of chain. Thank you!

Well, I just said my first ‘Admirable is the Name of the God!’ rosary. Now no part of the rosary goes unused. 🙂

I am sure the Lord would be thrilled with the sincere thought behind your pious invocation and he doesn’t really care if you use the same exact words as some saint. Just say whatever you think works.

Very interesting. Sr. Marie of St. Peter seems to be a rather forgotten figure, which to me is rather sad. They always say that Blessed Maria Pierina who came up with the Holy Face Medal stole her thunder and shouldn’t have.

Not by church teaching, no. Just a way I was taught to see it that stuck with me.

Thank you Tis_Bearself. I will give it some thought and if I can come up with something better, I will use that. I have to say though, I’m fairly happy just emulating Sister St.-Pierre. 🙂
