Why aren't there beads on a rosary for the Glory Be?

I have always understood that the bead between each decade serves “double duty” for the Gloria of the decade just recited (and the “O my Jesus” Fatima prayer, if one chooses to insert it), and for the Pater Noster of the next decade.

There are beads for the other prayers.
I’ve always thought the purpose of the single beads is merely to serve as a divider between the decades, and that whatever prayers one chooses to pray between the decades (and I’ve heard a fair few different prayers inserted there) are simply all said on the bead.

It’s not necessary to counterbalance it. The Hail Mary already praises Christ. We, like St Elizabeth who gave us the words in Scripture (this part anyway), bless Mary first so that we may then, through her, more perfectly bless Christ:
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

I ended up saying about 3 and a 1/2 rosaries yesterday; 1 regular and 2 and 1/2 ‘Admirable is the Name of God!’ rosaries. The 1/2 came because Mass was beginning and I had to put my rosary away. 🙂

Sit nomen Dómini benedíctum! (Blessed be the Name of the Lord!)

That is the traditional one that carries an indulgence.

Either way, these short phrases were/are traditionally called Pious ejaculations.

Thank you. I like that one. Now I have two that I can put on the unused chains. 🙂

Again, thank you. Wow, 915 pages of prayers! It’s going to take me a while to digest that one. I bet I can use that one for a lot more than just little prayers on unused segments of chain.

From With God:

"Discussing the question : Is Mental Prayer Easy? a spiritual writer says :

“In order to pray with fruit and without distraction it is very useful and in most cases necessary to spend some time in meditation or pious thought on some definite subject, and from this fact, as before stated, the whole exercise is often called meditation, instead of mental prayer.” "

And on page 10: " “WITH GOD” aims to foster meditation, ".

I am starting to meditate, and this is exactly what I needed!

I already had a book picked out and even a nice passage to start with, as it had already grabbed my attention, but this 915 page source of prayers should serve as an inspirational source for many many meditations to come!

I have a copy of Lehodey and I’ve started perusing it, but I was actually starting with a much shorter source that I found while searching for Lehodey. I have spent a few hours over a couple of days or so in breaking it down; here it is: AN EASY METHOD OF MENTAL PRAYER

I have also downloaded, watched, and listened to these two Ripperger videos:

Meditation doesn’t look like it will be very hard to do once I get going, but I’m finding that it’s a little hard to get started. I think I’m almost there though. 🙂

Speaking of meditation, page 547 of With God describes the Eucharistic Rosary, which has meditations, or prayers if you will, for each of the Mysteries of the Rosary.

Page 708 lists that Fruits of each Mystery.

The meditations are excellent catechesis of the doctrines and fruits each Mystery offers us.

They are a huge help for myself to mediate on each Mystery as I pray the Rosary. I’ve begun to start each decade by stating the Mystery, reciting the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the first paragraph of the meditation. After the last Ave of the decade I include the second/shorter section.

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for us !

Because it would be redundant. You get 10 beads for Hail Maries not because the Hail Maries are the most important prayer but because those are the recitations you need to count and could lose track of. When you reach the spaced bead it’s a cue to simply recite the Our Father and Glory Be (at minimum) once. It just means your between decades. You don’t need multiple beads for that.

In the second of the two videos I posted above, another book was mentioned, Humility of Heart by Fr. Cajetan Mary da Bergamo. I found a nice free pdf at Free Traditional Catholic Books. There are an enormous number of free pdfs there, maybe too many to read given my current age and a guesstimate of my total lifespan.

I just finished my first meditation. 1/2 hour is recommended, but during this first one, it seemed like it was communicated that 10 minutes was enough. I was surprised when 10 minutes had elapsed, as it seemed to last but a few seconds.

I am looking forward to attempting this again. I feel a bit of trepidation for fear of messing things up, but that will not stop me.

My inspirational ‘reading’ was the beginning of the True Devotion audio book by de Montefort. I let the very beginning of chapter one run for a minute or so. I had some inspiring imagery that I had thought of before to help me with it, and I sought communication and inspiration with that in mind.

I have been praying more of late. I’ve just now started praying the rosary in Latin (parts of it anyway), and I’m enjoying it more. I’m looking forward to going to confession later this afternoon. 🙂

Prayers in Latin

Admirable is the name of God.
Admirábile est nomen Domini.

PS: Drat, missed my opportunity to go to confession. I slept away the time.
