Hello,

I run a message board for Catholic Moms. A new member writes:

**I was just wondering how many of you follow the Dietary Regulations according to the Old Testament? Some of my Catholic friends believe that with the New Testament that the Dietary Regulations from the Old Testament no longer apply. Of course both my husband and I disagree and wanted to know just how many other Catholics still observe the Dietary Regulations from the Old Testament?

Mark 7:1-16 Our Lord spoke in parables to the crowd and to his Disciples was more direct, for the Lord told his Disciples that he speaks to the crowd in parables for it is not granted that they understand yet, with that being said I believe Our Lord was telling the crowd look worry more on whats in your hearts than just on the act alone.

I believe, Jesus our Saviour came not to disregard the Old Testament but to redeem us from sin, fulfill the Gospel and to reinforce the Ten Commandments (Matthew 5:17-20) which are from God. He came to teach us to Love one another and repent from our sins and Bless us with eternal salvation to our Lord Our God in Heaven.
It was God who came and spoke of the laws even before Moses but in the time of Noah about the clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:1-3) that Noah needed to take with him. I believe that we all serve God, Our Father including The Most Humble of His Servents, His Son Our Lord Saviour Chirst Jesus. So do you believe that Our Lord Jesus Christ came and tells us to forget about clean and unclean animals given by God? Or was he answering the question as to the eating with unwashed hands? ( Matthew 15:20).

All of the early Christians still followed the Laws of the Old Testament and specifically Saint Peter ( to whom Our Mother Church is built on) obeyed the Dietary Law given to us by Our Father. (Acts 10:13-14) Please read all Acts 10 and see that is was not referencing food. It is said in scripture (Acts 11:8-10) “What God has made clean you are not to call profane”. The Dietary Law provided by Our Father lists those animals that HE made clean 😉 I know, the vision was not about animals or food but hey

How can we respond?

Thank you!
